Hey now, everybody!
Raleigh was lots of fun, and really got me pumped for Atlanta. Not the greatest seltist of all time, but what they played, they absolutely killed. Gregg looked and sounded just fine from several hundred feet away.
😀

Kevin and I took off early yesterday for a :bike: to the Heartland run..HOTDAMN...my almost favorite new slide guitarman played my Grandfather's ABB over the intercom during breaks ..the break was his strings and amp he literally blew the roof off of..and omg..his Myakka Woman is the slinkiest slidiest new original blues tune this side of Heaven...life is good again...
Deb, we toughed out another FLA summer..Halleluja Brother!
weather is gorgeous , southerly breezy, butterflies grinning in the wind, snow birds heading south..We saw umteen mature Southern Bald Eagles cruising the lakes of Sebring , but what really blew my mind..half a dozen Cara Caras as we blew through Arcadia..Look em up..they are fantastic to see...

looks like the great jam bands are laying it down........
'ya gotta love that........
Been away a while, new job is taking its toll, the commute gets me up at 5:00 AM and home by 7-7:30 every day. After dinner chore etc. its bed time. It kinda sucks but in today's totally uncertain times I'd shovel s$%t if it brought in some money. (just an expression, no insult meant to those dedicated s#$t shovellers out there). God the shows sound great. I'm so Jealous. I'd give anything to have been able to hold onto those '08 Beacon seats for -09. Hope everyone is doing well, I really don't have time to even lurk anymore but I think about youse guys all the time.
Best BHW ever, wow I loved the 09-23-00 version and the 03-31-07 version even more. My favorite live song the past few years. I always though they could do more with Every Hungry Woman too, always one of my favorite songs on the first album, but it never really got my blood boiling live.
Phillies Lost!!! I am getting a bit scared hopefuly they will pull it off today and not force my blood pressure up with a game 5. The Dodgers are already waiting I would love to save Hamels for them. Philadelphia fan nightmare today the Eagles and Phillies both starting at 1pm.
Loving the reviews guys, keep em coming!
I was reading a few reviews about the shows over at The Philzone to get a perspective on The Deadheads point of view about these double-bills with Phil and The ABB. They were actually very complimentary on The ABB's sets - something you don't always get from the competition, lol!. One guy made me chuckle a bit when he said "The ABB was really on fire and Warren and Derek were putting on a clinic up there - This is definitely not your grandfathers Allman Brothers Band". He meant that in the nicest way possible. I tend to agree. They have somehow manged a way to keep the tradition, roots and intent of The ABB while modernizing the music with added dynamics, expanded setlists and chemistry....amazing really.
I have a feeling the Atlanta shows might be like "Beacon South" this year. I think there is going to be some incredible stuff happening. I wonder if Jackie Pearson and/or Chuck Leavell make an appearance? As we have learned with these guys, anything is possible.
Keep the freight train rolling...............
DanB, thanks...........EC with Winwood...OMG. Now if we only knew what night that KILLER show will take place. I HAVE TO SEE THAT ONE FOR SURE !!!!!
Praying for those in need. Nic, hope you are feeling better.
Sounds like The ABB were tearing it up in Charlotte and Raleigh! You know the reviews we have been reading have been stellar and they have even come up with some new superlatives for the best live band out there. To me, this is the way The ABB was intended, not only in the music they play, but the love they share for one another on stage. These guys pull for eachother because there is a deep respect there. They are all playing for the common good and they are taking the fans along for the ride. This band is gritty, Bluesy and Jazzy, the way it should be, the way it was meant to be. Derek and Warren continue to set the bar, continue to reach inside themselves to become the best and the most innovative players they can be. Nobody play like those two, nobody. And God Bless Gregg for singing his heart out each and very night, leaving his all on stage.
We are all very very proud of you!
God Bless The ABB and their fan base! Keep it going guys! As Lana said, they are a "celebration of life", I could not have said it better.
Hey there sweet family,
Charlesinator, I agree with you. Last night's Black Hearted Woman was the best version of the song I've ever heard, and gets "song of the show" props from me! Way to amaze, ABB! :clapping:
Raleigh and Charlotte were both tremendous shows ... Raleigh, a peachfully blissful, wonderous birthday present to a powerful spirit; Charlotte a bluesy, galloping celebration of life. I couldn't stop dancing, or marveling at the magic that was unfolding in front of my eyes, swirling into my ears! :flower2: :spinner:
Get ready for the real thing Birminghamalama, O-Beach and ATL! This is The Allman Brothers Band!! Whoo hoo! :spinner:
Take care and know that you are loved,
Lana
Good Old Sunday Morning.... Bells are ringing everywhere. 😀
Thanks Susea for the concert call last night up in the Mojo Mountains , I believe her teeth were chatting brrrrrrr. I'm sure the scenery was breathtaking...anyway I think the song was was High Falls .
Sue said that DB & GS were on FIRE..:flame: when she called again .. they were on a break.. I said Sue they are gonna tear that place down when they come back... She was laughing because thats exactly what Dickey said 😀
Heres the real Brother, the real deal, the sound of the Allman Brothers..if you want to hear the ABB music the way it was intended ... Go see Dickey Betts and Great Southern....
3 more sleeps..... yippieee
Lizzie , I am working today.. no time for pm's ... I will try and call you from work.. if not you call me at work..
We need to talk and make some dinner plans and see everyone going to Westbury.... 😀
Have a Blue Sky day all
love, peace and prayers to all who need them..
Rich, i am serious..i am done..they don't deserve my loyalty
lefty, I've supported the Cubs for over 45 years, but the complete lack of heart that this team showed in the postseason is beyond understanding-and completely unforgiveable. They laid down and died like a DOG (it's not a coincidence that I chose that word) by the side of the road. Some SERIOUS housecleaning is in order...
Thank God for the ABB. If it wasn't for that fantastic Charlotte show tonight, I'd be inconsolable.
omg, it happened, yet again..
the Cubs have broken more hearts than any team in the history of organized sports.........
they just lost me...
Go Red Sox
Agreed, Charlesinator-and Derek was EN FUEGO all night...his straight lead on Dreams was exceptional and he was transcendant on BHW, especially during the Other One jam portion. And Whippin' Post was positively combustible.
One of the best set lists I've seen for a non-Beacon show in a long time. The ABB finally made it up to Charlotte for the cancelled show 2 years ago. Last year's show was good, but wasn't as good as Raleigh. Not having attended the Walnut Creek show Friday I can't comment, but tonight's Charlotte show was exceptional.
The Black Hearted Woman was the best I've heard.
I've been MIA but you all are always in my heart.
Sending peachy vibes and hugs to all...
