Derek Trucks Band Confirms National Tour; Trucks Looks to Dickey Betts Reunion with the Allmans
Next Tuesday, January 13, is the official release date for the latest Derek Trucks Band record, Already Free. Later this month the group will hit the high seas to participate on Blues Cruise, which will feature performances by the DTB proper as well as the expanded Soul Stew Revival collective, which also features Susan Tedeschi on vocals, drummer Duane Trucks and a three-piece horn section: Mace Hibbard (saxophone), Kevin Hyde (trombone) and Paul Garrett (trumpet).
Starting February 6, the Derek Trucks Band will begin a cross-country tour that will open in Portland, Maine and eventually carry the band out to California in April (with European dates rumored to follow). The tour will consist of two legs, with Trucks spending much of March at the Beacon Theatre with the Allman Brothers Band. Speaking of the ABB, in the current issue of Relix magazine, Trucks not only discusses his current release but also places odds that Dickey Betts will return to the stage with the Allman Brothers during its 40th Anniversary run at "even money or better."
Randy, someone was watching over you. Thank goodness there were no injuries and no explosions.
I hope you will find a way to get up here for the Beacon. I remember the year you surprised us all and "stopped by".
As a goal for 2009 I am volunteering in a local soup kitchen.
I am also on a band wagon to reach out to those in need and offering my time to those who need it.
My hire spirit has reached out to me as I grow older, I just want to give back.
If I am able to score some luck tonight and get tickets can anyone offer some guidance reaching out to a person or group where I may offer a ticket to someone less fortunate who would love to see a Beacon show?
Thanks and peace to all.
Must be the same winds that hit Randy's house just hit atlanta a couple of hours ago:
http://www.wsbtv.com/index.html
Winds topple trees across metro atlanta)
There's a huge tree down on Ponce de Leon about 4 miles from the fox & a mile or so from where I work...I can't believe it didn't hit any cars when it fell!
Thanks for the kind words, guys.
I still got all my moving parts, a warm dry place to sleep, still in the game.
So many of us are dealing with real s#$%
--this is just a minor bump in the daily struggle that life is.
Main point I wanted to make is, even if you can't make it, consider participating in the presale. Any tickets we get won't go to scalpers and idiots. They'll find a good home one way or another.
And don't ever doubt one minute the quality of the people who have found each other here through the legacy of Duane Allman and the diligence of Lana and Rowland. You wouldn't believe some of the PMs I've gotten. But again maybe you would. People see a little adversity, immediately look for ways to help. A heart reaction. Brings tears to my eyes.
Y'all are good people. I love you. Maybe see you soon. I'll try to make it.
😀 I want MOOGIS 😀
count me in with that moogis prescription!
