Well, tonight I get to go to the first show at Boston's new House of Blues!
According to Wikipedia, I'll be seeing the band that "On August 17, 1971, at a show in the Boston Common, The Allman Brothers Band named their favorite local band. Both bands later played the last show at the Fillmore East, before it closed."
Do you folks know who?
More at 11:00 ....

RD - May your mom Rest in Peace, condolences to you and your family. I'm posting the memorial I wrote for Billy Faix, the Allman Brothers were his very favorite band. We've been to 20 or more shows together.
This is one of the hardest pieces I've had to write in my life. Billy was one of the kindest, compassionate individuals I've ever known. We had so many fun times together it would be impossible to get into many of them, but there are a couple of things I'd like to share. One is Billy's boundless love and support for his family and friends. In 1975 Billy was living in Carpinteria in this little dinky one room apt that consisted of a bed and a hot plate. We were all living hand to mouth at the time and I was pretty much in a constant state of broke. My brother informed me that our family was having a 100th birthday party for my grandmother and I needed to get my butt back to NJ. Of course $$ was a problem. without a second thought Billy said how much do you need and pay it back whenever I could. A true brother. The second thing is the absolutely great times we've had going back to NYC for the Allman Brothers Band each March. Scamming how to get the best pre-sale seats. Billy pulling off front row and ninth row seats for this year's run. He was so excited about this year's shows. As Gregg Allman said "if there is a God up in heaven he must love rock and roll" Billy is up in heaven now in the front row, listening to Duane and Berry jamming. I can just see the look of pure pleasure on his face right now, the same look I've seen so many times at concerts with him. Few thing in life have affected me like Billy's passing. There is a hole in my heart that can never be fillled.
RIP brother Billy
Red Dog, sorry for your loss bro...prayers and positive vibes heading your way now....peace to you and your family during this time. Brian B.
