Gregg Allman Aiming For Career First With New Album
08/01/2013
.
(The Blues) Gregg Allman is planning to record an album in November and he's aiming to achieve a lifelong ambition when he does. He's always wanted to release an entire record containing songs he wrote himself.
"It's probably a goal of every songwriter in the world: do one record that you totally create," Allman tells American Blues Scene. "You have hundreds – if you need it – different players with you, but you write it all."
Sessions with long-time collaborator T-Bone Burnett were originally set to take place in May, then moved to the end of the year, partly because of the amount of time it takes for Allman to complete songs.

Interlocken is THE festival this summer.
Any one know why T&T bandis not playing Peach Fest?
They are playing with the Black Crows a few days before in PA. I was hoping to see and hear some of the new CD.

Amen! that's awesome news Deb
I hear Brother Brent's son Forrest will be going back to Afghanistan as soon as he recovers from his injuries.
God please watch over and bless our brave American Heroes
My cousin Donald's son is on his way home from Afganastan! Thank you God for watching over him!
Slow Rollin Low is of course by the great BJS
another reason I LOVE this site, many thanks to heineken515 who remembered my asking is anyone knew the Wille song Dickey has been singing..
I didn't recognize the title for a moment, then it hit me
We listen to Waylon singing this song every evening ..
I would LOVE to see Dickey do this !

I posted a link in the Forum that is easy to click , but for those inclined to copy & paste, will repeat here.
It is to an outstanding article in HTN, written by Brother Marley, IMO his baby Bro Tyler, titled Music Heals
There are no words to truly thank Lana & Rowland for bringing us all together, thank you will have to suffice.

I was too Deb... 🙂 .... a great and grand experience it was. I am happy to have these memories.
:dog:  :inlove: :dog:
I was lucky enough to be at the Glen as well, saw virtually the same show two days in a row at RFK. Saw the Bros 14 times that summer, maybe the all time party summer of my life, and that is not a trivial statement.
On another note celebrated my 30th wedding anniversary with my beautiful wife Joyce this weekend. Without her I'd surely be pushing daisy's by now. God bless that woman.
Where does the time go.........40 years ago I was at Watkins Glen listening to the ABB, The Dead and The Band! Seems like is just a few years ago!!!! Some memories NEVER fade away! How lucky I am to have seen so many unbelievable shows in my lifetime!!!!
Morning Peachies

many thanks to you and Lana for this wonderful website
sorry so late, long weekend
Your welcome Jon, I agree with fanfare, Richard (Hombre) Price is good people and goes back to the early days, he is on facebook and can occasionally be found playing clubs around FLA, often with the great slide guitar player Rastus Kain.
and of course Reese, and don't forget checking with Johnny & Ann Sandlin too, they offer excerpts from Johnny's new book on facebook, I would think all the fans would be interested in .
Here's a goody from the weekend-(post below)
Hey Gregg....Just wanted to say I saw you last night in Rangeley Maine and truly loved your performance...First time I've ever seen you, hopefully not the last!!! "Midnight Rider" came on the radio a couple of months ago while I was driving my 4 year old grandson to daycare...He started playing the air guitar...And says "Meme, play the drums!!" So I started pounding out on the steering wheel and singing away...When the song was done he said "Meme, that song was AWESOME!!" So you see, a whole new generation is totally into your music!!...Be well and take care..Debra
Hey, Jon. Was wondering if you have spoken with Reese, or a guy named Richard Price?
40 years ago Watkins Glen. Hard to believe it was that long ago. The only way we got any news about the weekend was to talk to someone who was lucky enough to be there. My how things have changed. Just had my 40th high school reunion and a lot of Allman Brother Music was played. Good times.
Thanks, Carol for passing on our info. Most of our small group grew up in J-ville's Riverside/Avondale and attended Bolles, JEHS, or Lee. We were not only involved with the Allman crowd but were close with so many others who have become "legends" after 40+ years. At the time we just loved music and were swept up in the events as they happened.. We never thought it would have lasting significance but things have changed. Someday music historians will listen and want to know what birthed such beautiful music. Our journals/pictures/letters/home movies are very personal but full of "in the moment" intimate details of the beginnings of some truly special music. Anyone who was there and has items they would like to add with ours: Please email

I've received some interest from a few readers in potentially purchasing Allman memorabilia from our collection. What we have would not interest fans (ie: Film of the Big House in Macon without band members is nothing but home movies of another 60s party house, It was fun for teenage boys but not much to see). We will not be selling anything as we plan to donate all our personal items for study. I hope the readers here will understand.
Listen to The Gathering of The Vibes live right now!
Grace Potter is on now, then Gov't Mule 'bout 6:15pm followed by Phil & Phriends.
