I want to thank God Almighty for blessing me with this family.

still can't believe I missed Sat shows....Good Grief
Good Monday morning, all! What a wonderful weekend!!
First - I loved seeing so many familiar and now newly familiar faces. The gathering at the HTN party was wonderful. Plenty of room to hang comfortably with the music just washing all over us as we caught up and perma-grins began to set in.
What a fine night at Lucille's with the BFB - boys from 'bama! I really loved the the Lefty Collins trio. You want to hear some funky bass? Jon Player brings on the double funk. His bass is just as beautiful to look at as it is to hear. What beautiful wood. Major mojo going on there. He absolutely was named appropriately!! Tommy Booth got to get his hands on that 6 string for a couple of tunes. Looked like he was having himself some fun, too!
Mr. Henderson on the drums kept moving all night and anytime I see someone that can drum and sing at the same time I'm amazed. I'm lucky I can strum my fingers and tap my foot at the same time. Both he and Mr. Player added some nice new songs with their vocals. Fire on the Bayou? C'mon! Spanish Moon?? Are you kidding me? Really cool. We were also lucky to have JP Vancura in the house to bring out some of the other Lefty Collins & No Mercy Band tunes.
Lots of fun and smiles on the stage and around the room. And the room was packed. Even before the after ABB crowd showed up.
Jr. Mack sat in for a few tunes and really kicked things up a notch. This man knocks my socks off. To get to hear him earlier at the HTN party with JJB and then a second time with Lefty was a real treat.
Speaking of Jr. - last Saturday night JFC and I were all settled in watching Moogis and during the intermission there was a tune playing that was really grabbing my ear. I asked - "Who is this??" JFC didn't know, either so I said - "Text Peachnutt, he'll know." A text came back with "possible Otis Rush but not sure." Hmmmm...okay. So I start googling Otis with the last line of the song that I jotted down. "I know someday my trouble's bound to come" but nothing came up. Shazbot.
Fast forward a week and JFC and I are grooving to the very tasty Jaimoe's Jassz Band and I picked up the 2 CDs from the HTN merch table. When We were back at my place on Sunday, we popped JJB in the player and BAM! After about a half hour, there's the song!!!! It's none other than a Jr. Mack original - "I believe I'll make a change" Nice!!! I found the song that was pulling on my ear. Or, it found me is more like it. Sweet!!
FrimJolly - did your face end up in Chinatown, by chance?! 😀
Climbing off the mountain and getting back in the race. Sitting at my desk and trying to get into the goove of this work thang.
Great weekend and nice to see so many familiar faces. As usual, met a whole lot of cool folks and got to put a face to a post.
Really glad we decided to do three shows this year as we normally would have not arrived until Friday. All of the shows were very entertaining with Thursday's being my favorite.
Moogis for the rest of the run then doing a few Dead shows in April. See ya'll down the road.
Lana your hospitality was incredible. Thank you so much for the warm welcome on Saturday. Our long drive from Rama was worth it. I look forward to seeing you again.
Derel Truck on 101.9 NY Radio right now.

What can I say...three wonderful days in NYC with great friends and music.
Thursday's show was off the charts, as Lefty said to me after the show as we were walking out...very emotional, one for the ages. We agreed that we both had tears when EC was announced.
Friday's first set was hot. Somewhat dissppointed that I heard the same three songs with EC but was slowly turned around. Tight and magical come to mind.
Saturday's show was a great first set. very dissppointed that I heard Reed again, althoiugh a hot version it was the first time in a long time that I heard same tunes in three nights. Oh well one can not complain. Suasn, Bruce, Southside and the Juke horns were great to hear, but I could of used a few more ABB tunes. What a terrific version of Jessica by Hornsby.
Lana, great see you again at BBK. Lefty, absolutly wonderful, very tight and I loved the tune selection...ZZ Top, man oh man!
I gather this wil be my last year of three nights. My old body is tired. I have been coming to the beacon since it all began.
The Milburn hotel was a major dissppointment, say what you want, the Beacon is a lot nicer and bigger. We were crammed into our "suite", no kitchen, well a microwave and a sink, a feezer no bigger then a six pack!
Peace to all.
Scott

There are many people to thank here for Saturday. The HTN party was such a blast.I saw so many people that I have really missed or just can't get enough of and that includes JJB.We had the greatest time playing for all of you.Your enthusiasm was inspiring.
The ABB show was a lot of fun, too. The horns were amazing.Susan was under the weather, but it didn't stop her from delivering the goods.Don't Think Twice was incredible.Derek and Warren were terrific.......so many beautiful guitars to look at!I was drooling! My thanks to Jaimoe,Jaimie and the ABB for their hospitality.BTW,I also had the pleasure of a great backstage chat with Lee Roy Parnell and his Lady.
Anyone spot the kid with the top hat last night? That was my son,his first ABB show could'nt have been better,he's already asking me where the bands playin' around our area this summer! LOL,he's hooked : )How lucky am I..........Peace, Leo
How about the way Warren & EC sang Little Wing together? Just so soulful and together. I swear, Warren can sing harmony with anyone.
LOL! I hear that Frim! Good to meet you and to think we're both from somewhere near the Boston area! Cool!
Just a wonderful time! I am hoarse from the long talks with all of you! I just love the gatherings!! Peacheaters tore it up! It was so great to share the joy of this band with my friends who had never seen them! Lefty's gathering was a bittersweet ending to an amazing weekend and a heck of an adventure!! I am sorry I missed Lana and Rowland plus a few others but I know I'll see ya'll soon! 🙂 I am smilin' from ear to ear! It's wonderful!
The Beacon shows were so incredible! The lights and screen displays were off the charts right along with the music! :glow:
