The Allman Brothers Band

This show demonstrates the continued growth and maturity of Derek Trucks as a super musician. I think his recent tour with Eric Clapton and the avice he got about “playing louder” on the leads has helped him to a higher level as a guitarist. Last night, he took every lead he got and just soared, and yet at the same time his interplay with Warren is sweet. What really caught my ear wasn’t just his slide playing (which is the best) but his straight ahead lead which in previous years I thought to be considered as one of the greats of modern guitar he could improve. Last night confirmed that for me and made me a believer that he is for the ages.

Also, a shout out to Ron Holloway who gave a great performance on sax with some solos and interplay with Warren & Derek on a few extended jams.
