The first show of the 2007 summer run really burned for 2 hours, a great set list with a bunch of old standards and a sprinkling of newer songs. Derek seems to get better each time I see him, Gregg’s voice was clear and strong and the rythym section rocked the house. We even got to see Oteil play drums during the drum solo (a first for me), with Butch moving over to the tympani’s. Not to forget Warren, he was outstanding as usual and also in fine voice.

The Munck Mix Tent wasn’t on the premises, so I’m not sure if this show was recorded by the Band. I only saw 1 taper in attendance tonight. It’s also the first time I have ever seen security remove a person who was video taping the show. The negative comment about the show was the venue and has nothing to do with the band’s performance. Casino Rama has no where near the charm of the Avalon Ballroom in Niagara Falls, it just feels like you are sitting in a converted warehouse and not a music hall.
