The Allman Brothers Band

I can write and write on how great the ABB were in Buffalo last night but it would be easier to sum it up with the following observation:

when I went to buy my instant live about 1/3 to 1/2 way through Tom Petty’s set, I saw at least 700 fans exiting the premises within about 5 mintues.

Nothing against Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers (Mike Campbell was superb), but never bring a band like the ABB to open a show for you. After seeing a band like the ABB push each other song after song and jam after jam leaving all of the fans mesmerized, TP playing a song the exact same way it appears on the 3 minute track doesn’t cut it.

Given that they had 90 minutes to play, the ABB made a wise move in playing 11/12 songs rather than trying to squeeze in as many as possible….like Petty did.
