I’m not 100% positive, however, I think I was there for the 1980 show, and the opening act was a local band called the “Nighthawks” (who used to do battle with George Thorogood & Delaware Destroyers in local pubs) which at one time Gregg Allman according to RollingStone Magazine was possibly going to join. The guitarist for both bands carried the show as Dickey was incredible and the Nighthawks countered with Jim Thackery (who is no longer with the Hawks/ his own band Assassin’s) who left the stage and took the guitar out into the crowd for a huge response. The Brothers played mostly new material for the first set and the second set was mostly instrumental jams with Dickey soaring with his guitar licks.
