The Allman Brothers Band

After only two months earlier attending their fiery performance at Stony Brook, I was now to witness the band’s first outing without their former leader. While sadness and shock still lingered after Duane’s passing, I remember that the band just carried on so well that night. Duane’s playing could not be replaced but everybody just hung in there and made us all feel better. Under the most difficult of circumstances the show did go on as the band began establishing its new identity.

I don’t recall much from the set list but I do remember Greg coming out on guitar for Statesboro. There was also a very haunting Whipping Post. Dickie took on all the extra guitar work and just churned it out.
