I remember this show very well. I was 16 at the time and had only had my license since August. My friend Tommy was studying bass, and his teacher told us about the gig and not to miss it. I played trombone in the high school band, and hung out with some band members who were in a rock band, including Tommy and Paul, the drummer. We all piled into my father’s station wagon and went to the show. It was truly amazing, especially the interplay between Dickie and Duane. When the Fillmore East album came out, Paul handed it to me and said “this is the show we saw.” I have not been without that album ever since, and since i got my first iPod it’s always been on the device. Truly one of the best concerts I ever saw – right up there with Jimi Hendrix, who we saw in 1968 at Hartford.
