Hi all,

In honor of Captain Skipper -- and his love for the music, and for this community -- I'm planning to begin offering my entire collection of live shows in this space.

Trouble is -- as some of you know -- my collection which once included thousands and thousands of shows - ABB, GD, DTB, Jerry Garcia Band, Phil and Friends, Mule, and others, some of which were so kindly shared with me by Skip -- was unfortunately reduced to virtually rubble through natural disasters, computer failures, data loss, etc.

I'm going to begin rebuilding my collection, with the intention of sharing everything -- or at least everything I can - with this community -- for as long as I'm physically able to do so -- or for as long as this website kindly continues to exist in cyberspace (thanks Lana and Rowland).

Don't know yet when I'll be able to begin making offers -- but once they start -- they will continue.

Any ideas from the regulars here on how best to make these offers -- please feel free to post below or send me a private message.

Thank YOU to Skip -- and also thank you to Clay, Hophead, BBart, WharfRat, Denza, PhotoRon, HughDuty, Masahiko, Coot, and so many others who have shared their joy for the music with me, and with this community.

You know I'll do anything I can to help.

For the last year and then some I've been trying to give away Hugh Duty's entire collection.

Things are a lot slower here than they were in the good old daze.

You've reminded me that I need to put up another dozen of Hugh's shows and see wott happens.

Good to "see" you back!

Hi Steve and Ron Grin Grin Grin Grin

Great to hear from you my brothers. I hope you are well.

Sounds like you are doing a wonderful thing with Hugh's stuff Ron. Raise a glass to you!

Two of my favorite "Jimi" buddies - in Hugh and my friend Jace - have both now left us far too soon.

Steve - I almost went to see Jeff Beck recently - but then couldn't go at the last minute cause I was stuck at an appointment. My soul really needs some of that smooth power right now Smile

People still appreciate B&Ps or is it all downloading now?

I don't really have a source to upload stuff to.

Maybe trade/ship thumb drives or something like that? Just trying to get my bearings again.

Looking into getting a new computer so I can get all set up again like the old days....

Originally I set up the Hugh Duty giveaway as a "No B just P" but folks either didn't understand or weren't interested in paying postage for FREE music.

I had four people send me donations to make these true freebies now and low and behold people started taking shows.

Freebies is one way I could go Smile

Free music and free food will always pack a house!!

Wonder if I could figure out a way to combine the two.....

Rob, good to see you again and any way I can help let me know. So many great individuals on this site, too many to even mention....and unfortunately we have lost a few including the recent passing of the good Captain Skipper.

Hey Phil Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Great to see you my friend! It's been far too long. I've unfortunately lost touch with a so many of our friends.

Life gets in the way, if you know what I mean.

I hope you and your family are well. All very best wishes to you

I've been using dropbox to upload shows to my friends on Facebook. They have a free service and you can get more space by going through the five steps that they have. I've got 2.75 Gigs with them. I'm not sure how the mods or the ABB will like it but I feel that the music needs to be put out there. BnP's are still great but I notice that many are looking for freebee's which I think really blows. If you need any help with this let me know. I loved Skip and was involved in a few of his projects. He was the BEST.

Hi Rob super nice to see you on the site. And, you too Sal C! (Side note Sal C and I did some cassette trades back in the '70's. And, I'll beat Photo to it, it was the 1970's not the 1870's! :))

Skip and me worked on a number of my "Shoebox Series" releases that we made openly available to this site and were of very high quality, mostly soundboards. If you remember those.

I would be happy to "rebuild" your collection with those.

As I understand it though, are you giving away what you have?

Still, if that's the case, I'd be happy to replace them for you to keep and I could always offer some vines for the shows that I have also.

Skip poured himself into the music and freely shared it, in keeping with that, I'd make available what I have in the same spirit, either B&P's, vines, etc.

Also, Photo, you had asked me to PM you some information, which I did, but I have yet to hear back from you.

Many thanks Coot, Ron, Sal C and all for all your thoughts and support.

Skip's spirit and love is most definitely strong with all of you who have kindly posted here. This trading board may not be as active as it used to be. But so what!! It's all about having fun, sharing the music, and giving back to this community for all the love that has been shared with me over the years.

Coot, I'm thinking that what I would like to do is rebuild my collection, and in so doing -- every show that I get either audio or video -- I will offer to this community either as a freebie or as B&P. (Not yet sure exactly how I can make it work). But I know that setting up downloads is not really my thing. I don't have experience with that at all, and I believe my internet connection is capped pretty low speed so I wouldn't be a good source for download seeds.

But I can definitely offer B&Ps or downloads.

My hope is that while attempting to rebuild my collection -- I can bring all the joys of what Jimi Hendrix used to call the "electric church" back to my small lil' piece of the world -- and "give back" to this great community here by making available everything that I am lucky enough to obtain.

I first started trading tapes (GD, ABB, Hendrix, etc.) back in the mid-80s. I remember waiting months and months and months, hoping that I might receive copies of gigs back in the mail. Never really knowing what may come, or when (if ever).

When a package would arrive -- it was a joyous occasion -- and bring many many countless hours of tunes cranked at full volume, often with dancing, BBQ, and insert your favorite party favors.

As my collection grew back then, I used pack all my tapes in the back of my car and bring them to trading friends homes. Listen and choose trades that way, etc. Then in the late 90s my car was stolen. A Honda Civic. I could live without the car -- easy to replace and move on -- but the back was completely full of my tape collection - the loss of which was crushing to me.

It took me several years to even consider starting over -- and when I did it was with CDs rather than tapes.

But as ALL of us here who love to record or trade live music knows -- the greatest fun is sharing it with friends.

So this time around, as I look to rebuild my music collection from storm damage done to my home and property - I'm thinking the only way I can rebuild is to go back to the roots -- enjoy every single show that comes in -- and share it far and wide with the fine folks here who have shared so much with me, and enriched my life in so many ways.

I've met some of the greatest friends - true brothers and sisters - that I've ever had (including Skip!) - through sharing music together. Skip may unfortunately no longer physically be with us anymore. But to me, his legacy is love, joy and generosity. And I'll carry that, and I'll carry a small piece of him, with me forever.

I guess I'm not really looking to give away my whole collection -- more along the lines of giving away copies of everything I guess. 😛 😛

My ABB collection is mostly limited to what I have acquired here from great people.

I did start downloading shows off and on from other bands a few years back.

You mentioned exchanging thumb drives...I would be happy to send you a USB drive or even a portable HD of the music I have saved if that would help replace some of what you no longer have.

I could send it to you full and maybe you could send it back with some stuff I don't have?

I taped two of his recent shows, including one of the "soundcheck" sets... check your PM's.

Will start my first offers in a few days.

Got side-tracked a bit loading my new PC with the necessary software and such.

Things have changed a lot as far as the software available. Took a bit to find the old reliables.

Was just wondering what happened with this. I''ll gladly post some shows but it won't be until the end of the month or early November. Is anyone still interested?

Really sorry folks, medical issues have been consuming my time way too much the past months, and I just haven't had the opportunity to load everything on to my new PC. Heck, this is the first time I've been able to even log in here for far too long. But I most definitely have every intention of getting this going as soon as I have some time to breathe. And once it's up and running, I'll keep it going for as long as I can for sure. My apologies.

Brother Skip is in my mind and heart every day and I want to pay that love forward to all.
