Harry was President. Albert was Treasurer. Jack was in charge of production at the studio. Sam was in charge of technical support and bringing sound to the screen but died in 1927 at age 40.

Here is their story quickly.

No one in the Warner family has been involved since 1978 when Jack died.

Alan Walden was 83 and brother Phil was just 66.

In 1970 both brothers were with Capricorn records which was begun by Phil and Frank Fenter who was in charge of Atlantic/Atco Records in Europe and was responsible for bringing Led Zeppelin and King Crimson to Atlantic with Led Zeppelin becoming the best selling Atlantic artist in the 1970's with several multi platinum albums.

Frank I understand began No Exit Music to publish original material from Gregg, Dickey and Duane and suggested Phil concentrate on working with the artists on the lable while Frank ran the label.

In 1979 Dickey sued Capricorn for failure to pay him all the royalties due for Brothers and Sisters, Eat A Peach etc and won a 7 figure settlement. Other artists then began to file forcing Capricorn into bankruptcy.

Frank Fenter was ready to bring Capricorn out of bankruptcy in 1983 and was closing in on a deal with Warner Brothers Records to handle Capricorn releases but Frank suddenly died of a heart attack in Macon at age 47. With Frank's passing the Warner Brothers deal fell apart.

By 1994 Gov't Mule had signed with Capricorn.

Ironically Dickey attended Phil 's funeral in 2006. Gregg apparently continued his falling out with Phil Walden.

@kcjimmy Apparently for most "At Fillmore East" is the best live album ever released of a band playing this kind of rock music. Perhaps any kind of music.

Gregg Allman after Idlewild South failed to sell well began to doubt whether the Allman Brothers Band was going to be any more than what it was then. A good coast to coast following and playing lots of shows but the actual members were not making any money and he wondered whether he should go to dental school while he was still young.

But his brother said to the guys " All we need to do his put out a live album and get that fire we have playing live on a record and this band will go big".

Was Duane just lucky or did he actually know it would happen?

Jerry Wexler and Atlantic Records though it was a terrible plan and would be a bust at record stores. Phil Walden didn't believe in it much either but the first two albums didn't catch so Phil decided to hope Duane was right and worked like heck to get Atlantic to do it.

For some reason after At Fillmore East was released and went Gold then Platinum, Phil moved Capricorn over to Warner Brothers.

I remember a five man band show I saw before Eat A Peach dropped and just before Ain't Wasting Time No More, Gregg said " Here is one from our new album which will be out next week on the Warner Brothers lable ".

I thought " Warner Brothers? They have left Capricorn and Atlantic?

But when I bought my copy a big Capricorn logo was on the lable and in fine print " Distributed by Warner Bros. Records ".

The first two albums had the Atco logo big and " Capricorn Series " in smaller letters. Atco was an Atlantic Records label.

But At Fillmore East had a big Capricorn logo on a pink label and " Distributed by Atlantic Records" in fine print.

My daughter has an oceanfront condo in Daytona Beach Shores (almost wiped out by a hurricane!) and when I've been there we went and took our picture street side toward the house where Duane & Gregg grew up, very nostalgic for me indeed. I wondered how many times they might have jammed in the garage when they were at the very beginning of learning their chops? Been to "The Q" which is where they both hung out and was immortalized in Floyd Miles song "Back To Daytona."
