It's nonsense to insist that Biden needs "a woman" on his ticket to beat Trump. Women are individuals w/minds of their own & w/the exception of ardent feminists, aren't going to vote for a candidate based on gender.

We're still a long way from what may be a virtual convention in August & the path of COVID19 so predictions of the VP seem premature. In any case, the key issues are electability (& Trump's popularity seems to change daily) & age. Although younger than Bernie, Biden will be 78 at inauguration. It's not unreasonable to consider the very real possibility that he may become incapacitated during his term & the VP would succeed him. That's where the focus should be - a rational, competent, knows how government works savvy PERSON who can steer the country back to civility & constitutional compliance while overseeing what could be a massive economic & social rebuilding after the pandemic.

I've mentioned age before & gotten the response that he's not that much older than soon-to-be 74 yr old Trump. When someone is pushing 80, those 4 years matter. It's not the difference between 30 & 35. Of course, some of us expressed surprise that anyone 60+ is classified as "elderly" in COVID19 guidelines.

As to electability, there may be some political strategists who believe there are votes to be gained by selecting a nominee from a geographic region. Beyond that, it's insulting & false to believe that all women or all ethnicities vote as a herd. As someone here said, Trump is the best weapon against Trump. Voters of all kinds want him gone; they don't need someone who looks like them as an incentive to vote him out.

Trump would be delighted w/a woman candidate - to taunt, belittle & insult. His disciplines would love to have a HRC 2.0.
