Well, friends, it has been a long and entertaining melee - looked like liberals were toast during the post-election conservative gloatfest here. Many good voices disappeared, mostly libs, some con, most notably all female input, gone. Whipping Post practically became a Nazi rally for a while, but in a classic Tortoise vs. Hare upset, the Libs have outlasted, outargued, outclassed the cons and stayed in the ring until the conservatives are now MIA, in disarray. Their star player has forfeited, vanished. Kinda wondering if he was in the Coast Guard. Of the five remaining cons, two are moderate, sensible, reasonable and articulate, but have been abandoned by their team, their fellows who appear sporadically to spew incoherent bile. They shot their load and hit the road. As a microcosm of the national trend, it is a good portent for the victory of reason.

I’d be at a loss for words too if Trump was my choice. They surely can’t be proud of what’s happening. They seem overwhelmingly embarrassed, hence the constant attacks on Obama and liberals - it’s them feeling badly about getting caught with their hands in the cookie jar.

Obama’s class, temperament, and popularity made them feel small, guilty, and embarrassed of themselves. Trump was their way of feeling better about it, but now they see how ridiculous they’ve behaved.

I doubt the hardcores have the bicameral mental ability to see themselves at all. That requires an upgrade no longer supported by human consciousness, obsolete because unneeded for an aeon, the schematic to enable the post-100k BC neurological framework capacity for self-reflection. Throwbacks who missed out on that rewire or voluntarily fried it in order to rationalize their leader's incongruities are pretty much stuck at their present level of development.

We can only hope that the majority of the duped who jumped on the bandwagon are fed up with Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.

The moderate Republican majority who have survived this insult and prolonged assault on their reasoning faculties have a strong opportunity to rout this administration by running a Bush-style moderate in 2020. The Democrat presidential nominee pool is hopelessly overcrowded, nobody stands out.

I don't know who these moderate Republican majority are who might put forth a Bush-style candidate in 2020. The behavior by the GOP in the Cohen public hearing & their silence re Trump's Otto Warmbier's murder comments (where Trump takes the "word" of yet a 3rd dictator over US intelligence) solidified for me the idea that they're lock-step behind a celebrity narcissist who has been repeatedly described by intelligence/defense as "perilous."

I also found Cohen's closing comment to the effect that Trump wouldn't leave easily or willingly in 2020 to need clarification & have yet to find any.

Hearing the ridiculous name toss by Dems for 2020 indicates that they don't get it, either. We need a WINNER and a LEADER not a gender, race, single-issue candidate.

Possibly Democrat crossovers. We might be at one of those shift points where Republican and Democrat swap definition.

Optimistic I know. It is either that or Trog Planet, so where there is life there is hope, I suppose.

Personally it is difficult for me to see people I care about, people who are friends, buying into the corruption, the rhetoric, the ever increasing number and depth of the lies Trump spews, it's getting crazier by the day! The lies he is telling now are no more believable than Jack and the Beanstalk or the Easter Bunny!!!! Telling the patents of Otto Warmbier that Kim Jong didn't know that their son was being murdered, Trump is a truly disgusting individual ...........Peace........joe

Same thing happened last time a lethal right wingnut got popped in Maryland. Maybe their marching orders are radio silence, bunker up when one of the cells of MAGA (Maryland Army of Great America) is exposed.

Run silent, run deep.

They see now that Trump will never actually be able to carry out their dirty deeds, when he promised them he would. They failed to recognize the power of checks and balances, which is what the Founding Fathers were smart enough understand, for situations exactly like this. The right got wrapped up in emotion and forgot all about that. They spent 8 years crying about how extreme and polarizing Obama was, but then go and elect the most extreme and polarizing candidate we've ever seen....they learned absolutely nothing about the dangers of electing a polarizing candidate. What fools.

And then the GOP in Congress has no will whatsoever to stand up to Trump and everything he's done to destroy this country. His chums up & takes the sides of dictators who interfere in our elections, murder a UVa college student, murder a reporter of the Washington Post. This is a despicable trait & a pattern with the pathetic president we have. He regularly takes dictators' sides contrary to our own intelligence agencies. Yet Congress GOPers for the most part are along for the ride hanging onto his coattails in fear of Trump's never expanding base.

Just look at the last few years of McConnell and Ryan (no longer in Congress) and their spineless leadership.

I keep asking why. The so-called base is "never expanding." That leaves 60% and I hope, growing, number of Americans who NOW see there is a corrupt amoral liar in the WH who lies even when he doesn't have to - e.g., Jared's security clearance.

His behavior toward the Warmbier family about the son he "loves & thinks about" is despicable. Still, no GOP outrage. For the 3rd time, Trumps takes the "word" of a dictator over his intelligence community. Maybe because Otto was a white UVA student, Trump used the Warmbier family for a while whereas he ignored Khashoggi's family at the "word" of MBS. Now, he's back to his bromance w/KJU. Even his defense of "I got him out" makes no sense - how did he get him out w/o his friend's knowledge? did he ask his friend to investigate WHO specifically is responsible if KJU himself isn't? did he ask that punishment result? Did he ask his friend for the $500mm the NK govt owes the family or did he leave that as symbolic?

I'm not saying all Dems are good, but there are 197 GOP Reps and 53 GOP Senators. Aren't there a dozen or two of each that are capable of ANY action? I don't mean garnering enough to make meaningful votes. I mean enough men & women who will call out Trump & say these bromances w/dictators is dangerous? His statements are reckless & irresponsible? His animosity towards allies is stupid? His actions are indefensible?

This is a very extreme sentiment over here to describe a band community on the internet that leans far left on their politics.

1) I like the idea of a wall
2) I think Hillary is a crook
3) I did not care for the last 4 years of the Obama presidency
4) I think illegal immigration is bad
5) I like President Trump. Call me a Trumper , whatever.
6) I think socialism sucks and all who embrace it must be defeated.
7) I believe the science is still not conclusive on global warming.

Expressing these views on this site dont makej anyone mentally challenged, a racist or nazi or closet skinhead. I think this post is way off base. One thing is right, many of use have gone radio silent for these reasons and will come out ofthe silent majority that will emerge on election day and re-elect President Trump.

I am on absolutely on board with six of these and not all 7 only because I try not to Judge Presidents until their term(s) are complete

I agree with OG that the left has still not learned. I predicted that Trump would be elected because there was NO dialogue. NO ONE likes to be ridiculed for their choices politically, but yet it continues....His re-election would not surprise me at all.

Ridicule has been a two-way street here, meted out in equal measure by left and right. The only difference is the right dishes it out but can't take it.

I just don't get what it is the Trump supporters can possibly admire and support or take pride in here, through his criminal leadership and constant corruption, incompetence and lying, he has destroyed any respect the GOP had. He has helped promote in his administration, the parasitic infestation by such low scumbags as this Rep. Mat Gaetz of Florida, what a fine example of humanity this guy is, and there is lots more just like him, including most of the Trump Family, Everything in Trump's world is ruled by greed, corruption, fraud and lies. A lot of it I see and hear, has to do with his promises to keep our white privilege and protect us from anyone with brown skin??? If it's felt here that I am wrong please share some of the things You admire or respect about Trump or any of his upstanding Family, its not very intellectual or deep to say "I like Trump because he hates Hillary just i do" i mean if thats all it takes to plwase You, thats cool. Don't forget now this is the Family that not long ago had theor own charity shut down and may well be prosecuted for using the funds that had been meant for use to better mankind, we'll I guess they bettered themselves, it's known as stealing or embezzlement incase anyone is not familiar with that........Peace.......joe

HC is irrelevant, yet your fetish with her continues. Instead of talking about yesterday's candidate, why don't you take up for Trump and his support for dictators, white nationalists, & petaphiles. You agree with his positions, don't you? Why don't you address your support for putting children in cages, partially shutting down the government when he didn't get his way hurting many federal workers and agents, creating false narratives for national emergencies, supporting a serial liar, lies by Trump & daughter about intel clearances for Jared, etc, etc., etc.

Stand tall and support your guy. Defend these positions showing us how you agree that they are correct and good for America.

NO ONE likes to be ridiculed for their choices politically.....Exactly my point.

Voters in 2020 will once again go to the Polls, pull the curtain and vividly remember that there continues to be no dialogue when it is time to cast their vote...

How many people have you come across who are willing to stand up and say "I support the President"?

They are certainly out there. I'm guessing these people have made the decision to keep their opinions and thoughts to themselves, finding that more pleasurable than having to listen and be subject to those who can not control their hatred...In keeping quiet, do you think their voices are heard in polls?

It all looks left when you are pedal to the metal hard right. There is no "far left" here. No anarchists or communists, gays stay politely in their closet, women don't even bother with the Whipping Post sausage fest . . . pretty much a straight white hetero bunch with some mildly left of center views. This is a moderate middle class, middle-of-the-road crowd.

When you are standing at the North Pole it is all south from there. The New Right has shifted the political spectrum so far right that moderate conservatives are now radical leftists.

So what? Ridicule away. If folks are confident in their views ridicule is an opportunity to respond with wit. Revolution is built on ridicule. Whoever's butt hurts most loses.

Trump taught us all about the power of weaponized ridicule. Like I said, they dish it out but they can't take it..

1. I'm all for border security but do not agree with President Trump's policies or style.

2. I don't think Hillary Clinton was a crook but the Clintons just need to go away and shut up.

3. President Obama wasn't my favorite but the economy improved and Bin Ladin was taken care of under his Presidency. I appreciated his civility.

4. I'm all for enforcing laws regarding illegal immigration but remember who picks your food and works in slaughter houses.

5. I despise President Trump.

6. I don't like socialism either. That being said, remember that when you collect your social security check or need to use Medicaid.

7. I believe parts of the world are affected by climate change and pollution.

8. I've never been so embarrassed to be a Republican.

I can do without name calling regarding political views. I find MAGA this and MAGA that annoying and attention seeking. But I know people who don't care for the Allman Brothers or UCLA gear either. I'll live.

Whatever their reasons, they have ceded the field. They dished out plenty but couldn't take it. Elected a guy who insults and mocks all opposition, applauded this behavior, did the same themselves, then crawled under rocks when faced with backlash.

Well if you're are here illegally, you've committed a crime. Hence the word, "illegal".

There's always Wikipedia if you need some reference.

We are in agreement there.

What's the next step?...The end of "Sanctuary States"?...Deportment?...End the Dream Act?....More Border guards?...No Driver's Licences?....Voter I.D.?...Denial of Social Services?

Let's be honest here, unless you live is Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan, Florida, or Virgina, your opinion of Trump doesn't matter. That is the reality. You can forget everything else. The entire election depends on whether voters in those 6 states prefer Trump or whatever the Democrats put up as an alternative.
