What former FBI Director Comey actually testified to

So far from Comey’s actual testimony we now know that:
1.) Candidate Donald Trump/President Trump was never under investigation by the FBI.
2.) Candidate Donald Trump/President Trump did not obstruct justice.
3.) President Trump’s asking Comey for his loyalty meant Comey’s loyalty to the Constitution and the Country.
4.) No member or President-Elect Trump’s team was ever under investigation.
5.) It was bill Clinton’s covert meeting with Janet Lynch that prompted Comey to make his public statements in July 2016 regarding the Hillary Clinton email scandal.
6.) On Comey’s statement that he was “intimated” by President Trump Comey said that it was true but everyone is intimated in the Oval Office.
7.) President Trump never ordered Comey to drop any investigation into Gen. Flynn.
No smoking gun and nothing new or untoward “exposed”
The definition of insanity being doing something over and over and expecting a different result has been proven by the Democrats on the committee.

Like Benghazi Benghazi Benghazi?

I'm sure Comey will have plenty to say in closed door sessions that was glossed over or not responded to this A.M.

Mule, you truly are a phenomenon - the more information you get, the dumber you become.

"Intimated" instead of "intimidated"?! Not once but twice! What a dimwit.

So, the former #1 law enforcement guy in the US was too "stunned" to say to Trump "Sir, this conversation is improper w/o the presence of the AG?" Not too quick for a guy whose career is predicated on being able to think on his feet.
He was afraid of reporters at the end of his driveway so he gave his notes to a friend to pass on to the press? Doesn't know where those notes are now? Maybe he could ask his friend to return them? He considers memos he wrote as personal rather than government writings?
How many ways are we going to parse "May?" It's Clinton's "the" all over again.
I've always been as far left as one can get, but this performance was nothing more than a CYA for Comey personally. Glad I'm just back in the US for a visit.

What I don't get about any of it is why anyone would stand behind and support Trump. This isn't a right or left issue...this isn't about party its about who represents us as a nation.
Seriously??? Donald Trump...
Doesn't pay taxes
Doesn't pay contractors
Doesn't own up to any problems that arise from is actions and words
Talks down to everyone like he's has some superior knowledge...has shown to have 0-zero-nada-niete no knowledge of many subjects....The guy thinks Fredrick Douglass is still alive (Shaking my head)
"Who Knew healthcare could be so complicated"...."I didn't know this job would be so hard"
Disrespects War hero's, Gold star families, disabled people, the press, the judicial system, The intelligence community...the man has his head firmly up his @$$
Then he wonders why he's under siege when he acts like an idiot on a daily basis!!!!???? WTF...spends years trying to prove Obama is not an American citizen??? WTF
Has anyone ever asked the question...How does someone get to run the Miss Universe pageant in Russia??
Has anyone thought that maybe the collusion goes farther back to when he was given the opportunity to run Miss Universe in Russia...and Why there??? why not here in the US???
How do you think you would be able to have a major function happen in Russia?? What would you have to do as an American citizen??
He has in the past said he has a relationship with Putin...video documented words
Did his campaign reach out to any NATO countries...did they have secret meetings with Spain???....India????....England???...France???....Germany???....Italy????...Australia????
I do believe these countries are our allies...yet he looks like he's in pain when around them and happy as can be around Russians
Why??

Strange but watching the hearings on CNN and FOX News at the same time (or flipping between the two) - and by reading the stories on both websites (as well as reader commentary) - it seems that there are two different interpretations of Comey's testimony. People seem to be hearing what they want to hear out of the same words.
I thought John McCain was freakin' lost in his questioning. He kept trying to get Comey to say that Hilary was let off the hook for the same "offenses" as Trump - citing the ol' double-standard. Comey tried to explain that Hilary's probe was over a private e-mail server, but McCain kept tuning him out (badgering him). This strikes me even stranger in light of the fact that his Trumpnesss questioned McCain's heroism because he was captured.

John McCain has served his country beyond what most can even imagine. I thank him for it. However, listening to bits and pieces of the testimony on NPR, when his turn came around I felt not only embarrassed for him but also realized that he really needs to retire. He's clearly suffering from neurological disease and/or aging. Some days he's more coherent than others, but over the last few years those days seem more and more rare.

"President Comey"? Please, citizens of Arizona, escort McCain gently and with dignity off the national stage, before dignity becomes impossible.

Mule must have watched a different hearing than I did.
I would only agree with 1 and 5. I don't know where you came up with the other points.
He certainly didn't say the other things. He certainly didn't say that Trump didn't obstruct justice. He specifically said that it was up to Mueller to make that determination.
You forgot to point out that Comey called Trump a liar, and that Comey never felt compelled to have to make detailed notes after meetings with Bush and Obama.

I didn't forget it mention it because it was Comey being pissed that he was fired. Comey wasn't pleased that President Trump said the FBI was in disarray under Comey's leadership. Which it was.
Not surprisingly you left out the context.
Comey repeatedly said he found no obstruction of justice by President Trump.
Comey did confirm the Obama's AG Lynch committed obstruction of justice in the Hillary Clinton email criminal investigation.
The Democrats and their lapdogs in the corrupt liberal media had three "revelations" they created confirmed by Comey:
!.) President Trump committed obstruction of justice.
2.) The Russians and Candidate Trump and/or his staff were involved in a conspiracy in the 2016 election.
3.) That Candidate/President Trump was under investigation by the FBI.
The Democrats and the corrupt liberal media got none of their issues confirmed by Comey.
Nothing.

Paul Ryan has stated that Trump is new at the job and didn't realize that asking Comey to drop the investigation may have been illegal. If that is true, why did Trump clear the room so there were no witnesses?

If you say so. Well, I guess that wraps it up then. Nothing to see here. Burr will close the committee and we won't hear of this again. You may go back to your originally scheduled Trump worship now.

Comey strikes me as an on the level stand up guy.

Comey strikes me as an on the level stand up guy.
He strikes me as honest. However, it seems like he wanted to avoid confrontation with Trump by playing word games and avoiding the issue instead of being straightforward with Trump each time Trump asked him to do something inappropriate. When Trump asked for his loyalty, asked him to end the Flynn investigation, asked him to "lift the cloud" he avoided confrontation when he should have been more straightforward with Trump. It is obvious that Comey wanted Trump to win the election, so maybe because he supported Trump he let things go despite being inappropriate, but he obviously also knew (or at least suspected) that this was all going to come out and that Trump was going to lie about it or he wouldn't have felt compelled to write detailed notes after each meeting and phone call with Trump, even though he didn't feel the need with other presidents.

Good points you make. Comey - his words and actions paint the picture of a conflicted man. Also, in his own testimony, he referred to something to the the effect that if he'd have been stronger. In his position he needed to be stronger and put up a stop sign the minute the jackass of a prez began crossing lines.
I'm not 100% sure that Comey wanted trump to win the election, but certainly won't dismiss that possibility. Either way, Comey's cause & effect did not serve this country well. This is something that always travel with him.
Although Comey made mistakes in the last year, there's no comparison in who has more credibility with the "he said he said" or comparing him to the slug in the WH.
We're just seeing the tip of iceberg.

Comey just might be the last honest human being in Washington.
He answered with uncertainty when asked if he thought that Hilary might've fired him had she been elected. This after pointing out the impropriety of her husband's tarmac tryst with Loretta Lynch. During the campaign, Comey was a human volleyball. He was loved and hated by 50 - 53% of the voters at any given time - with many flip-flopping in their opinions depending on who he was eying at the moment.
My guess is yeah - Clinton most likely would've sacked him, too. I believe he knew he was doomed no matter what the outcome of the election was. D.C. ain't no place for a meek and honest person.

i believe Trump's comments were ambiguous enough that it put Comey in a real bind. taken individually, not much there. but if you take them in totality, it smells really bad. i don't think this will be Trump's undoing. either Flynn or Kushner or someone else is going to have to get a deal and turn on Trump or something in his financial dealings with Russia or the Mob or something like that is what will take him down, maybe. he might be able to drag this out for 4 years still.

Sounds about right for any FBI Director.

You've spent a lifetime in law, and many years in Washington. You've got experience, wisdom and the knowledge of what you do and don't say in whatever situation and context you happen to be in.
You are sitting across a dinner table from a man who has none of that legal awareness...heck, that's one of the reasons so many people voted for him. Knowing this, you realize that you cannot trust the situation. What would you do?

When cornered by a rabid feral pig, you avoid confrontation, remain as circumspect as possible, to avoid triggering any unpredictable atracks.

Regardless of the outcome, Trump and his supporters condemn half of the American people, condemn the FBI, condemn former American Presidents, condemn several Supreme Court judges, condemn American media, condemn the Mayor of Manchester......all while praising Putin, Duterte, Saudi Arabia despite their role in 9/11, and not caring about proven Russian election interference. Sounds to me like Trump and his supporters are traitors to America.

it's difficult to draw a different conclusion.

Comey did not say that Trump had not committed obstruction of justice. He said it wasn't his call. Big difference. Mueller is investigating obstruction of justice .
- Comey did say he found no obstruction of justice by President Trump after repeated questions by the Democrats trying to get him to say so.
- Muller is not investigating any obstruction of justice. He was tasked to investigate and Russian involvement in the 2016 election. Try to get your fact straight son.
Comey said that Trump wasn't under investigation in February. As he is no longer employed by he FBI, he has no idea what is happening now.
- The Democrats and the corrupt liberal media daily until yesterday kept claiming that the FBI was investigating Candidate/President Trump. Comey verified that was a lie.
The hacking of the 2016 election and who was involved is still under investigation.
- To date there has been no indication much less evidence that Candidate/President Trump or any of his staff were connected to any alleged Russian involvement even though the Democrats and the corrupt liberal media daily said so.
You should have watched the testimony. It as interesting.
You and the far-left extremists were proven liars yesterday on all three of the issues.

The Democrats on the committee yesterday failed to ask the question that the corrupt liberal media was screaming for:
At the diner at the White House did President Trump ask for two scoops of ice cream and you only got one?
Did you get the flavor of ice cream you wanted?

On the N.Y. Times story that the Trump campaign was colluding with the Russians Comey testified that story was false. Their “blockbuster” story was a lie meant to help Hillary Clinton get elected and they failed.
After the N.Y. Times printed that false story every corrupt liberal media outlet ran with it reporting it as true and the far-left extremists bought is as usual.

from Alan Dershowitz:
Missing from the corrupt liberal media after Comey’s testimony: Comey admitted that President Trump has the authority to order Comey to not investigate Gen. Flynn but he did not do so.
Mr. Dershowitz also yesterday affirmed that no obstruction of justice occurred but that Obama's AG Lynch does have a serious problem on her hands and should retain counsel soon.

Caught lying again, CNN (Fake News) issues a “correction”:
CNN issues correction after Comey statement contradicts reporting
The Hill - Joe Concha
© Provided by The Hill CNN issues correction after Comey statement contradicts reporting
CNN has corrected a Tuesday report after the release of former FBI Director James Comey's opening statement for his Thursday testimony in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee contradicted the reports' sources.
The CNN report said Comey was expected to dispute President Trump's claims that Comey said he was not under investigation on multiple occasions.
The report, titled "Comey expected to refute Trump," was based on unnamed sources and said Comey's conversations with the president "were much more nuanced," and that Trump drew the wrong conclusion.
The story was complied by four CNN journalists, including Gloria Borger, Eric Lichtblau, Jake Tapper and Brian Rokus.
Borger reiterated the reports claims in an appearance on CNN Tuesday.
"Comey is going to dispute the president on this point if he's asked about it by senators, and we have to assume that he will be," said Borger, the network's chief political analyst. "He will say he never assured Donald Trump that he was not under investigation, that that would have been improper for him to do so."
Comey's opening statement did, however, mention asserting that Trump was not under investigation, however the statement failed to specify whether Trump was not under criminal investigation, but only said there was no counter-intelligence investigation on the president.
"Prior to the January 6 meeting, I discussed with the FBI's leadership team whether I should be prepared to assure President-Elect Trump that we were not investigating him personally," wrote Comey. "That was true; we did not have an open counter-intelligence case on him. We agreed I should do so if circumstances warranted."
"During our one-on-one meeting at Trump Tower, based on President Elect Trump's reaction to the briefing and without him directly asking the question, I offered that assurance," Comey added.
CNN published a correction to its story Wednesday afternoon with the revised headline: "Comey unlikely to judge on obstruction."
"CORRECTION AND UPDATE: This article was published before Comey released his prepared opening statement," it reads above the original Tuesday story. "The article and headline have been corrected to reflect that Comey does not directly dispute that Trump was told multiple times he was not under investigation in his prepared testimony released after this story was published.
