Well, well, looks like capitalism is alive and well with Bernie, he just grew a big set and bought a vacation home over 600,000. Looks like Mr. Sellout has no desire to rub shoulders with the working class.

Exactly.

Bernie is in his 70's & has served his constituents & country in the public sector in various capactites over the years. Why shouln't he be able to purchase a vacation house that he can afford for himself & his family down through the grandkids without beeing scrutinized for what it is or costs. It's not like it's some multi-million dollar purchase. And even if it was, if he has the money, that's his business.

Possibly in the eyes of some he should have just bought or rented a small piece of land, pitched a tent, and call it the the Sanders Summer Retreat?

Half a million for a seasonal house? Well it's less than a house on Martha's Vineyard, but still, I understand why people think he sold out. He gave up his fight for the Presidency, and then buys a $600,000 seasonal home. Seems extravagant.

Not sure where you live, but $600,000 doesn't buy very much here. You can't even buy a modest 1,600 Sq ft home for that here. Certainly not extravagant.

Wow. Through many, many years of hard work and smart money management, my wife and I are well on track to afford a similar vacation home before we hit our 70's.

What America do you Goober? Gina?

I'm sorry you guys didn't take advantage of the opportunities available to all Americans.

It is really bad form to criticize a successful American because they worked harder or smarter than you.

Its not about jealousy or envy about what he can afford. Remember, Bernie had like 22 million dollars in campaign contributions from the little people which he plans on keeping and i guess spending now as well. Both perception and timing of his lavish spending are at odds with his message and the character he tried to act like on the trail.

Also, i dont think Bernie ever said things like " work hard and opportunity in America is available to all" or "Equal opportunity not equal results" i wonder how much he will be paying the gardener?

I'm still not seeing how $600,000 is considered lavish. Maybe that's a lot of money in Shitsville, TX, but how somebody who supports Trump could complain that $600,000 is too lavish really needs to think about what they are typing.

You can't use leftover campaign contributions for personal spending. Against Federal law since 1989.

I'm sure it isn't about jealousy Goober. It is clearly about ignorance. Do you know what Donald Trump calls a guy who works his whole life and thinks $600,000 for a retirement home is extravagant? Donald Trump calls those people LOSERS.

Your original post and thesis really tell me a lot about you. The fact you are voting for Trump... well... that's just sad.

We are not talking about Trump and his definition of success. We are talking about Sanders, a Socialist who built a platform by promising free this , free that to his followers. Liberalism is truly a mental disorder if you cant see the hypocrisy in Sanders actions, from selling out to this. And getting lectured by liberals on the benefits of working hard and capitalism and enjoying the fruits of your labor, that's just so ironic. And I live in the Northeast where this is not considered a lot of money as well.

There are ways around dipping into this cash. For instance you can draw a salary equal to the office you are seeking which is 400,000/year from these funds and to my knowledge good ol' Bernie did not accept federal campaign funding either.

Exactly. Although Sanders is left of my beliefs, he is trying to level the playing field. His goal is to let workers make more money off their labor instead of all the wealth making it into the bank accounts of the top 1%. In other words, he thinks everyone who works hard should have the opportunity to buy their own vacation home, not just the billionaires who rake in almost all of the GOP while paying workers slave wages.

Sanders is a Democratic Socialist. His platform had a way to pay for his social programs. This country already operates with working social programs. You must already know this. For example, the Football stadiums around the country that allow the 32 billionaire owners of NFL teams to make more billions are primarily paid for by tax payers. That is socialism.

Bernie's ideas took tax money from the billionaires and directed that money to people to get education and health care so more people are smart enough and healthy enough to retire well.

If you can't grasp that... well, I understand why you will never have a nice vacation home.

Nope. Can't do that either. And, it has nothing to do with accepting Federal funds or not. It's about accepting any funds to campaign for a Federal office.

Most campaigns have to deal with a lot of debt. Newt still hasn't paid off his 2012 run. Super PACs are where a lot of the leftover money is as well.

That's idiotic. I know a lot of Progressives and nearly all of them are doing really well. Not 1% but certainly living well above the poverty level and enjoying the fruits of many years of hard work. Often two income families pulling down 6 digit incomes.

Goober,

Would it restore your opinion of Bernie if he just rented several rooms at the Motel 6 and he took his family to the beach for a week?

He's not delusional. The Goober really does have a NH lakehouse. He had me up there last summer, before he went nuts. It was fun. I took this picture for my scrapbook.
