"The Commerce Department said Wednesday that — despite more than two years of President Trump’s “America First” policies — the United States last year posted a $891.2 billion merchandise trade deficit, the largest in the nation’s 243-year history."
Trump repeatedly claims he's the best ever....In the case of the Trade Deficit, he's actually right and not lying for a change. I wonder if Fox News, Hannity, or Lou Dobbs will mention this tonight?

Not an issue for fiscally conservative Republicans. And to think The GOP Congress barely allowed Obama to move forward with CR's.
Forgive me in advance if this had been mentioned in the links, I will read them, but it has been said a spike in imports could've been due to companies trying to get ahead of any tariffs that went into effect last year or will go into effect potentially this year.
In looking at the numbers, if one wanted to look at the bright side, while imports and the trade deficit did reach an all-time high and the growth in imports out paced the growth in exports - BUT exports did hit a new high in 2018. $2,499,970,xxx - some $133 billion over the previous export high in 2014.
