The CIA director, Gina Haspel (who was nicknamed bloody Gina) for her authorization of the brutality of interrogations done at CIA torture black sites. She listened to the tapes and probably did tell him what was on there. Sometimes what you see, hear or even read creates images so horrible, they become unforgettable. Trump did not feel that he needed to listen to the gory details for whatever his reasons were.
Unless you have heard or seen these really gross things, you cannot understand why someone would not want to hear or watch it. I still remember seeing images of bodies burned by white sulfur, bodies in Israel of Palestinians who were killed and had their organs taken out of their bodies to sell on the black market. I watched part of a beheading video but it got too gruesome I could not watch the rest of it. The head of Tajikistan (Karimov) kills dissidents by putting them in vats of scalding hot water will their bodies boil them to death. I know what they do in the black sites how they torture people, I have read accounts of that too.

They're afraid of Trumps base of support....Also, keep in mind that the Saudi Royal family has a very well funded and entrenched lobby in Washington that has held great sway over both political parties for many years...It's partly why we, the American tax payer, pays a sh*tload of our tax dollars each year to basically base the American Navy's Fifth Fleet on the door step of Saudi Arabia as a defender against Iran....
Without that naval fleet, including its very potent air power and no doubt nuclear capability (a couple of nuclear armed Trident subs are most likely part of that deployment), Saudi Arabia would be a much easier target for what most experts consider a much stronger Iran....My point is we have far, far more leverage over Saudi Arabia then they over us. Especially given America's recent ascendance as the largest producer of oil in the World.
An American president who didn't have such a conflict of interest and the weight of Congress and the American public and other western allies behind him or her could, with one phone call, inform the Saudi King that his little minion must be removed from power and replaced by one of the other numerous princes. Why bother? Trump has already decided that he doesn't care. The only truth that matters to Trump is the one that he makes up. Facts no longer matter.
