I like David Kay Johnston's reporting style. After working on two of Trump's sites, especially Trump Castle in Atlantic City, I'm not at all surprised by the report.

In the late 70's and early 80's Nicodemo Scarfo was far more feared than John Gotti. Not much got done in Atlantic City that he didn't allegedly get a piece.

Boy, these articles are getting more and more ridiculous. Where were they when all we had was community organizer as business credentials that become more worthy than actual business accomplishments that you can see with your own eyes.

This ridiculous hit piece discloses that in order to get something built in the construction industry there are a lot of other expenses or graft that needs to get parceled out. David must be building in fantasy land. He reminds me of the antagonist in the Rodney Dangerfield classic "Back to School" that is shocked that the teamsters get a big cut and if you plan on using cement, there are some shady characters that you need to deal with.

Hit piece or not, how in heaven's name can a CASINO go bankrupt FOUR TIMES? People willingly hand you bazillions of dollars every hour of every day, willingly!

The man is running on his business acumen, no?

So, Barack Obama-Bill Ayers is fair game, Trump-Mafia isn't? LOL

I seem to remember Fox spending tons of time on Ayers, especially O'Reilly and Hannity.

A lot of good that would do preaching to the choir. Maybe I should have said traditional media. Plus, Obama refuses to appear on FOX so O'Reilly and Hannity couldn't have questioned him on Ayers regardless.

O'Reilly interviewed Obama during half time of the Super Bowl in 2014.

But what has this got to do with Trump?

1. Not on Fox News. Regardless, it would have been a little late to ask any questions about Ayers at that point.

2. Reading the thread and following the conversation might help answer your question.

He does not do bailouts.

He also now hints that if he doesn't get the GOP nomination, he may run on his own party line.

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/exclusive-trump-threatens-third-party-run/ar-AAdnC0L

NEW YORK — Donald Trump says the chances that he will launch a third-party White House run will “absolutely” increase if the Republican National Committee is unfair to him during the 2016 primary season. Pressed on whether he would run as a third-party candidate if he fails to clinch the GOP nomination, Trump said that “so many people want me to, if I don’t win.”

“I’ll have to see how I’m being treated by the Republicans,” Trump said. “Absolutely, if they’re not fair, that would be a factor.”

If he did become President, I bet he would ride in his own plane rather than Air Force One. You'd see him tooling around in his Trump Jet.

He's got the money and he's got the moxy, he isn't begging any political party to please pick me, pick me like the others are. This will be very interesting.

Its about time somebody is also knocking down these career politicians down a few pegs. McCain deserved to be beetch slapped by Trump. Nothing but a career politician with a terrible record on veterans and immigration. He lost his way decades ago and is nothing more than a RINO catering to the defense industry.

I hope Trump continues to call out these self serving smug eleitists who have wrecked this country and sold us out to the Chinese. Glad he called out that slug Karl Rove as well. He also is dead on about all the money pouring in. How can you do whats right if you have all these people lining up to expect something for their millions(Jeb & Hillary).

Is his popularity that surprising?

Judging form the sheer amount of people sick to death of politicians and politics in
general, I'm not a bit surprised.

Snake oil salesmen reading words prepared by someone else off a teleprompter. Generic,
Pollyanna, poll tested statements that either mean little or nothing, or pandering to some
voting bloc they must capture to stay in power.

What you get is the real Trump, and whether you agree with him or not, that's a trait that's
very appealing to many folks.

Pollyanna, poll tested statements that either mean little or nothing, or pandering to some
voting bloc they must capture to stay in power.

What you get is the real Trump, and whether you agree with him or not, that's a trait that's
very appealing to many folks.

Trump is the epitome of a snake oil salesman.

Generic,

He made all that money selling snake oil? I'm in the wrong business.

Sorry, since you used the term first, I just assumed you understood what it means. My bad.

And FWIW, I am far from being the first person to call him that.

In other words you (and everyone else that calls him that) feel that Trump doesn't engage in endeavors with any real, tangible benefit? His golf courses, for instance?

Nope, snake oil salesmen sell you something they know to be useless or of little value. Trump says what he thinks, he will not change his stance on the issues just to please a political party. He will not even apologize for his remarks that have p*ssed off many people. He means what he says and says what he means. Washington has never had someone like that before to deal with. He will not have writers creating speeches for him because he has no problem answering questions. He's blatantly honest. He is also a businessman, 'nothing personal it's just business' is a hallmark of his brand. He doesn't let his personal feelings get in the way of his business decisions.

If he were President and people objected to something he implemented, he would tell them, 'look this is what I am doing, it is the best decision, if you don't like it, that's okay, but I have to do what I believe is best for the country, you may not agree with it now, but you'll see I am right, I know what I'm doing.' He's firm, assertive but he also has a reflective quality where he will consider what others think.

Haven't you watched his show, the boardroom has always been very interesting, you may think it will go a certain way, and then he decides on something else based on what comes up.

Nobody will agree with all of us on all the issues, you just have to choose what is most important to you, and then look at the candidates position on it, as well their ability to deal with what comes up. My big issue is foreign policy, other issues are Constitutional rights, good stewardship of the fiscal responsibilities of running the govt.

What matters to you, where do they stand on those issues? Can they effectively lead the country? I like Rand, can he lead the country? He's a passionate southern man who stood up for his principles filibustering the Congress because he deeply believed it was necessary and I agree it was. But I know if anybody wanted to come in and takeover our country, Trump would put a stop to that in a heartbeat with a response like 'oh the eff you will'. We kind of need that. Rand would fight back also but in a different way. He's well mannered. Could he handle a belligerent Congress? Well he already is, he dug his heels in and would not give in like the rest of 'em. He's a good patriot.

No, he is selling a product (himself) that has little or no value to the US.

Ya know, if Trump consistently polls in the teens to high teens, he can run as an independent and will get a podium at the General Election debates, a la Ross Perot.

Wouldn't surprise me a bit it he ran as an Independent. I'd say the chances are pretty good.

I realize it's early (months away from election), but I'll go on record & say that it doesn't matter whether Trump remains a GOP contender, whether or not he gets the GOP nomination (doubtful), or whether he runs as an independent candidate. My belief is that the Democrats retain the White House. I just don't think Trump will be a factor in the final outcome. Demographics across sectors don't line up for the GOP...period.

Agreed. Same reason as why we are suffering through a second term of Governor Paul LePage in Maine...independent candidates aligned more with D's split the D vote and gave him the win with less than 50% of the vote both times. Some even say Nader is the reason Bush 43 beat Gore.
