It’s real simple, Trump and a couple cronies engaged in tax fraud as a means to pay a settlement to an individual to not reveal their sexual encounter. If you or I had done this and been caught we too would be prosecuted. Trump is not above the law no matter how hard he tries to convince the electorate that he is.
Does this crime rise to the level of seriousness as his other long list of alleged illegalities? Certainly not in my opinion, but he still broke the law in this specific situation. In six months or a year this particular indictment will be a footnote compared to the other indictment’s he faces. But that is irrelevant when it comes to holding people accountable for their actions.
