The thinking is that if a person owns a home surrounded by better maintained homes the person will also maintain there home. There were many restrictions and qualifiers attached to the applicants. I know that Prince Charles championed a similar program in England that has been very successful. The programs I'm familiar with also included a large re-education program that made new careers and living wages a reality. I don't know if this is what is planned by HUD. I'll be visiting my Mom next week, she might have more insight. Just out of curiosity, what compelled you to break from the pack and give a relevant answer? You should be proud. Like I always say, I object to those who instigate for no apparent reason. As for the topic, I imagine the policy makes it easier on some level for lower classes to finance homes in higher quality zip codes. Not exactly the "government choosing your neighbor". It's a noble gesture, and an honest attempt to do what they believe is fair and right. I doubt it will produce anything beneficial however.
