Fox News posted an article claiming “outrage” over Samantha Bee using “extreme vulgarity” when describing Ivanka, implying she should be fired, lol. They are too funny. They spend an enormous amount of time and energy bashing liberals for being PC, bash ABC for cancelling Roseanne, and then express outrage over a d-list comedian for being vulgar. Which is it with them? They need to pick a stance and stick with it. It makes them look schizophrenic.
Don't get me wrong I think Rosanne is a horrid beast, and it may be this was just the last straw for her, she's been making some real bizarre noises, but: Why is her comment racist? Comparing people to apes is not racist. The ape reference she made may be simply that she sees the person as ape-like. I've made the "Planet of the Apes" comment myself, had zero to do with color, more of a similarity to those odd masks worn in the original by Roddy McDowell and co.

He was comparing an unnaturally orange person to an orange animal. Being orange is a choice, not a race. Also, there aren't centuries of associating gingers as orange southeast Asian primates.

So it sounds like you know the ape comment was racist, but take issue that the Trump-orangutang comment isn't racist. Personally, I never once thought Trump was a ginger like Conan O'Brien. His hair color looks light brown/blonde, and now a fake orange/reddish dye. And his tan looks fake, which makes his skin look orange. If he was a ginger like Conan, I don't think Bill Maher makes that joke to be perfectly honest with you. Since he paints himself orange, I think it makes the joke ok, and not racist.

Roseanne's Planet of the Apes comment was either extremely racist or incredibly culturally naive. Judging by the vapid ignorance she displays in public discourse I am inclined to assume the latter.

If BrerRabbit was to say here that I was truly hurting him by me saying that "Trump is an orange pile of shit!", I would do my best (kinda) not to say it anymore, I would just say "Trump is a pile of shit!", no colors. However, I feel he has earned ever bit of verbal abuse that could possibly be heeped upon him and then some, due to his treatment of others over the last 50 yrs, though admittedly it serves no good purpose I guess.

I have one Grandchild, a 6 yr Caucasian boy, all neighborhoods have gotten ruffer I guess, but I still like mine, very mixed racially, same house since '76, even though it has become kinda ghetto and drugs, ods, whole 9 yards, still mostly good people around, I wouldn't have to lock my doors if didn't want to. Anyway, there is a sweet park 4 blocks away, 2 wide open acres fenced in with play equipment and a pavilion, yes it gets trashed, yes the teens mostly are foul as sh!t and I've had to avoid them. So as soon as my Grandson is old enough to run, we invented a game he loved, slowly out growing now, called "monkey", it's where I lock him up in an imaginary cage under the big slides and the he escapes and I chase him all over park yelling "get back in You cage You little monkey" he came to quickly love it, good fun for all??? I am not so sure, in September we will welcome our 2nd Grandchild, also a boy they tell me! This child will be of mixed race. Will this game be appropriate for my new Grandchild??? I am leaning towards NOT. When it's crowded we all play together, I enjoy supervising the smaller kids, when teens show, sadly time to split. Well, I am now, Thankful to Rosanne! Rosanne is a disgusting racist, but she did get me thinking deeper? She is a pop star that never appealed to me and I never gave more than a passing, nauseated thought about.

btw crazyjoe, I don't take any offense at any reference to physical characteristics, I crack racist jokes about myself all the time. Just ask our most nonracist expert on this subject Mule, he will inform you that I am the leading racist on WP, so I certainly don't deserve any slack in this regard. I was raised in a racist culture, so it follows that racism is dyed in my wool - which is why I feel it is healthy to acknowledge this and keep it in daylight so as to not unconsciously act racist. I will bet Rosanne thinks she isn't a racist, like a lot if not most racists, and that's why they can't tell if they are being racist. I have seen that the worst racists often get the most defensive in claiming how they aren't racist. A pattern obvious enough to possibly be a rule.
