RIP Donna Douglas AKA Elly May Clampett

If you're a red blooded American male in your 50's, one of the first females that ever got your attention was very likely Donna Douglas - via her role of Elly May Clampett on the Beverly Hillbillies tv show. (For me it was either her, Barbara Feldon (Agent 99 - Get Smart) or Barbara Eden (I Dream of Jeannie) that prompted me to sprout timber for the first time.)
I always loved Elly May! She could out-rassle, out-run and out-hunt any feller in the holler. And goh-lee, uncle Jed! She sure was sump'n purdy to look at!
Another childhood memory gone at the age of 81. Rest in peace, Ms. Douglas.

I remember when Miss Jane bought her some "double barreled slingshots".

A great show for a kid growing up back in the day. They just don't make comedy like that now. Classic humor / great scripts. RIP Donna.

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

At 7 I write a love letter to Ellie Mae....folded up and put it under my bedroom rug....That was one of the 1960's true beauties....Beverly Hillbillie's was one of my fav's
RIP Donna Douglas

Re: the Elvis photo. Apparently Elly Mae's best acting was season two - after Elvis dumped her. Her anger/rebellion was all too real; the cast avoided her at every possible opportunity.
Ah to be Elvis; where Elly Mae is a cast off.

I loved that show.
Ellie and her critters.
