Republicans vote to slash Amtrak's funding by $252 million day after deadly derailment in Philadelph

shouldn't the f**ng engineer not drive a train at 100MPH in a 50MPH zone?
Maybe He is a Republican.
Those proposed budget cuts got him so mad, he hit the gas going into that turn and there you have it. Republican cuts kill again!...........No, wait....He felt a little warm and thought he was catching Ebola (of course the Republicans fault) and he was hurrying up to get to a doctor. Yeah, that's it.
Your posts are becoming more & more irrelevant. Your attempts at humor are weak. If they were half way funny, then they would at least supply some comedic relief. I hope you don't do stand up as a hobby.

Grow past? Yup, that's it. It's the left that needs to do the growing, correct? "Anything bad that EVER happens is ALWAYS the Republicans fault."
Absolutely they should. Wasn't the finger pointing supposed to stop? It gets worse by the week, almost reaching comedic levels. It's ALWAYS the Republicans fault -- The one constant that never changes, no matter what the problem, no matter what the facts. Now that's humility!
This from the guy that said 'Obama owns it' from day 1.....well, the republicans now own what comes out of the house and senate.......so deal with it...... I guess responsibility only goes one way.... lol

I am trying to find some cheese to go with your whine.... any ideas?

Every President owns it from day one.
How bout some Chile con Queso.

He read a few of your posts and then tried to kill himself.
Now if I could get you to try the same thing.
(Just kidding of course)

I'd like to know the average speed of all trains that travel that same route at that specific turn. Do all engineers travel around 100mph at that spot? Is it common in the railroad industry for engineers to exceed the recommended mph by a certain amount? How many mph over the average speed was he going? I think there is a ton of data that still needs to be collected before we go blaming people for murder or manslaughter.

Making irrelevant posts can be fun. Thanks for the input.

Fun for you. The rest of us think you are a clueless idiot. We know you post that crap because you are not smart enough to have an intelligent debate. So go on and have fun. 😛

Thanks, I will. Besides, stupid people like me have every right to post. Same as the brilliant ones like yourself. It's an open forum.

Is this another case of Republicans defunding resources for the common man or just a reduction in entitlements since Amtrak requires subsidizing to operate?
Opinions?

The lead paragraph of this piece is clearly the opinion of it's author(s), and one designed to denigrate a certain political party's level of compassion. Disregard the entire slanted article, which contains an opinion and therefore is not worthy of any discussion.
Can't believe nobody noticed this, then proceed to fill the thread with useless garbage.

So now alloak's gonna throw a tantrum and do this in every thread.

Wrong. The article you reference is not an opinion piece. It is 100% not an oped.
Here is the opening of the article:
WASHINGTON — Even a devastating and deadly derailment didn’t soften Republican hearts Wednesday on the issue of Amtrak funding.
As bodies were pulled from the site of the tragedy in Philadelphia, GOP members of the House voted to slash funding for the rail service by $252 million.
The 30-to-21 House Appropriations Committee vote came along party lines over loud objections by Democrats.
Was there a devastating and deadly derailment?
Yes. That is a fact.
Did that accident change the way the Republicans in Congress approached funding of AMTRAK?
No it did not. That's another fact.
I will agree that there is bias in the report. In fact, I believe that everything that is written reflects the authors' bias. Bias, however, does not make an article, a journalistic report, an opinion piece.
To think otherwise shows a complete misunderstanding, an overwhelming ignorance of journalism as a discipline.

$252 million is chump change. Amtrak’s manglement can (and does) piss that away before lunch on any given day.
To date, nobody can say why the derailment happened. That alone should give one pause.
When the government has its hands on virtually anything it is screwed up... by lunchtime.

The VERY FIRST PARAGRAPH (above) is an opinion. Did they check with every single Republican to get some measure of the firmness or softness every heart. much less the mindset of every Republican official? Plus, it establishes a theme (again an opinion), that the Republicans are somehow not soft-hearted. This is clearly opinion, not news.
Following the precedent that has been established, the piece should be disregarded and not worthy of discussion. It's reasonable to conclude that said article contains opinion and is slanted.
Thus, the individual poster is not implored to look any deeper into whatever subject matter may be contained in the article. It's simply not possible to converse any further on the topic.

Did the derailment change the Republican stance on funding AMTRAK?
No. That is a fact not an opinion.
Your post indicates a canyon of journalistic ignorance. My words here cannot open your closed mind to journalistic principles.
The rest of your drivel is idiotic nonsense.
You simply do not understand the difference between an opinion piece and an article.

Wow, not having a clue about the extent of my own journalistic background.
I'm not quibbling about the distinction between opinion and news. However, that lead is most certainly OPINION, not news. The all too frequent injection of opinion into the hews has blurred the distinction, I'll grant you that.
Even though it's not classified as an opinion piece, the first statement seemingly attempts to tell the reader what they should think about Republicans and their level of compassion. Ideally, solid reporting of facts leads the reader to reach their own conclusion. It should go without saying.
Not in this case. They get that out of the way right up front in the lead paragraph.
