I remain unconvinced that anyone in the Pats organization did anything that remotely resembles what the NFL is punishing them for and the reason it has gotten so ridiculously out of hand is because of an inherently unfair and flawed process and some major mistakes by the commissioner and his minions.
It really doesn't matter if you are convinced or not.
It matters to me. And that's all that matters. To me.
😛
it matters to me too. And all Patriots fans. But whatya gonna do? Some people like to talk about what I (we?) consider pure BS and some, like me, like to talk about the dismantling we laid on the Colts and then beating the Seahawks for ring number 4.
it's whatever blows your hair back...
The stink of cheating will always be associated with this team and its qb. That matters to everyone else.
There isn't an NFL team that doesn't have the stink of cheating associated with it, including whichever team you are a fan of.
Ah, no, not really. No one cares if the Browns cheat. Hell, maybe they should cheat more. 😛
Cleveland Browns general manager Ray Farmer has been suspended without pay for the first four games of the 2015 season for to sending text messages about play selection and personnel usage to their sideline during games last season. He was also fined $250,000. The Browns did not lose any draft picks.

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooook.
You've convinced me. The Patriots are the walking embodiment of Jesus on Earth and the rest of the league are cheating dirtbags.

The Patriots totally eviscerated the Wells Report with their Wells Report Context rebuttal, except for one thing: the notion that the ball handlers used the term "deflate" to refer to weight loss, because since no one has ever heard of "deflate" being used that way it is ludicrous to even suggest such a thing.
Well now, hold on just a second. Come to find out, not only is it NOT unheard of, the NFL itself, via the NFL Network, has even used it that way...
NFL Network used ‘deflate’ to mean weight loss years ago
When the Patriots launched their “The Wells Report in Context” counteroffensive against the NFL’s all-out, scorched-earth blitzkrieg, even those who conceded they made a lot of great points that totally discredited the Ted Wells witch hunt had a problem with one argument they made — that the ball wrangler who texted to the other ball wrangler calling himself “the deflator” was talking about weight loss. To a lot of people that claim is at best implausible and at worst sounds like a complete lie that overshadowed the rest of the Pats‘ otherwise brilliant defense.
I’ve conceded I’d never heard the term used that way, but a simple Google search of “deflate muscles” and "deflate your weight" will give you dozens of hits about that very thing. Not to mention Jamie Foxx in “Any Given Sunday” doing an ad for “Inflate your chest with Met-RX.”
And now we’ve unearthed this little nugget, from an NFL Network show in 2009, with one of their own commenters using “deflated” in exactly the way the Patriots say their ballboys were using it. The world can do a huge collective eye roll all you want. You can laugh at the idea of two buddies using a term between themselves that you’ve never used, but you can no longer argue that millions of people don’t use “deflate” that way. And frankly, you never could make the case that your own ignorance somehow that proves they illegally tampered with a football.
Credit to YouTuber (not the fullback) James Develin for the find. Next time, just stand closer to the TV and for God’s sake hold your phone horizontal. That’s Video 101.

So I'm confused...are you saying that Browns GM Ray Farmer has NOT suspended for the first 4 games of 2015 and the Browns organization was NOT fined $50k for cheating? And here I thought you were above dismissing info simply based on the source.
Maybe it would have been better if I used an article from Forbes instead? How about ProFootballTalk.com? Or maybe Cleveland.com? Take your pick...

You said "no one cares if the Browns cheat", but given that the Browns GM is facing the exact same suspension as Tom Brady, obviously someone cares.
Call it a crusade if you want, but I'm really just trying to make sure people to see the forest through the trees and maybe try to keep some of the "holier than thou" attitudes in check.
Let me ask this...has a player or team in the NFL or other major pro sport ever been punished so severely, or at all for that matter, for something which they flat out deny doing and is based nothing other than circumstantial evidence all of which has been directly challenged by the accused?

I honestly don't know what that means.
What is everyone supposed to be seeing? The NFL is doing everything it can to keep the Patriots down? That doesn't fly. Why not take the Lombardi Trophies away, then?
What is the end game of the NFL here? If there is an anti-Patriot conspiracy in the league office, why?

That would take some time to look up and quantify, I admit to not keeping track of such historical information. A million dollar fine? To the people at this level? That's merely semantics. Two draft picks, I believe? Ok, that is damaging. Brady suspended? Still plenty of time to make a great season out of it.
But...why did Robert Kraft give up the fight? I found that shocking.

gondicar, check yer PMs.

Been down this road already and no interest in rehashing, feel free to scroll back and find it.
But...why did Robert Kraft give up the fight? I found that shocking.
It was very disappointing, but I understand why he did it. He is an honorable man and did the honorable thing and put his partnership with the other owners first. There is no mechanism for a team to protest within the NFL "system of justice" so he would have had to go outside to the courts and who knows how long that would have taken and how much it may have damaged the NFL or himself (don't think he wanted to become the next Al Davis).

All right. My apologies, I shouldn't have made jokes about something that's obviously pretty serious to many folks. Don't wanna foster any bad blood.

Ha! 😛
I knew the reference to cheating more was a joke (per the smiley face), but wasn't sure about the "nobody cares" comment because I think lots of people really do believe that. There is a clear double standard among NFL fans now when it comes to cheating. Heck, the Jets were caught cheating by tampering with Reavis (fined $100k) and most people that have mentioned it to me think it is no big deal and even funny because it was a Pats player they tampered with. And how about the Falcons being fined and losing draft picks for pumping in extra crowd noise in a deliberate attempt to gain an on-field advantage over the course of TWO SEASONS. That's almost 1,000 of the opponents' offensive plays that were potentially impacted. Even if you believe Brady did everything he has been accused of, it is minor compared to what Atlanta has admitted doing.

Not appealing is an admission of guilt, or at least the belief that guilt can be proven. Let bygones be bygones is what 2 former enemies say over a cold beer. That isn't what is happening here.

Where did I say Stephen was guilty of anything? Other than being a Cheatriots fan. 😛

All good -- by let bygones be bygones, I meant that was the Pats' way of saying, 'as if any of this Deflategate baloney is worth the paper it's printed on -- let the league be heroes if that's what they want, it doesn't amount to a hill of beans one way or another'

So, according to you, Kraft said that we were accused of cheating and hey, let's put in behind us, we'll pay the fine and move on with our now tainted SB win. Oh, and Brady? He's on his own.
Yeah, that's the ticket. 😛

Stephen is the one that said "let bygones be bygones" and you said "that is an admission of guilt" so you must think he is guilty of something.

All good -- by let bygones be bygones, I meant that was the Pats' way of saying, 'as if any of this Deflategate baloney is worth the paper it's printed on -- let the league be heroes if that's what they want, it doesn't amount to a hill of beans one way or another'

As I said, Kraft is an honorable man and did the honorable thing and put his partnership with the other owners first. There is no mechanism for a team or owner to appeal within the NFL "system of justice" so he would have had to go outside to the courts and who knows how long that would have taken and how much it may have damaged the NFL or himself (don't think he wanted to become the next Al Davis) and I'm sure his partners i.e. the other owners didn't want to see that happen and let him know it. It's really not that hard to understand, unless you just don't want to consider anything other than the "admission of guilt" angle, and if that's the case nothing I or anyone else says matters.
And just to be clear, Brady is certainly not alone. He's got the NFLPA and a team of lawyers working his case, and I'm sure he has the support of Kraft as well. Unlike with a team or owner, there is a mechanism that allows for a player to appeal, and he is using it. What will be interesting is if the outcome of his appeal isn't satisfactory and any/all other options under the CBA framework are exhausted, does he decide to go the court route. We'll see.
