The emphatic public denials of involvement by BB and TB (not to mention the apology demand from Robert Kraft) were enough to convince me that they did nothing wrong.
Well, yeah. As if...

Hey, I understand. And like I said, we all have our own bias on this. But if you really think they would have stood up in front of the world (and I do mean the whole world not just the sports world because there were mainstream and other non-sports press at those briefings that would otherwise never have been there) and said what they said if they thought there was any chance that it could come back and bite them, well then I guess you are a more cynical person that I am.
Nothing they said could come back to bite them, because of the perfect way they handled it, which I have given them props for several times.

Then I guess I'm not sure what you mean.
No deep meaning at all. Just needling ya. :D:D:D:D:D:D
Ok, that's cool. I guess I am an easy mark on this topic. See previous post. 😛

And just to put a coda on it (for now)...warning, this has New England slant. 😛
So after all this happened on Wednesday, Adam Schefter went on with Dennis & Callahan (and Minihane) Thursday morning and shed even more light on the K-ballgate fiasco.
Not only did this thieving weasel NFL employee try to swipe the football in question that was supposed to go to charity — this was not his first barbeque. The NFL was “onto him” because they’d noticed “a pattern of behavior over a period of time” and the AFC championship game “was the last straw.” But none of that suspicion prevented the league from allowing this kleptomaniac — who steals money from sick babies or cancer research or whatever — to handle the footballs in the conference title game.
According to Schefter, the first person to notice something was sketchy was Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri, who lined up for an extra point, was handed the No. 2 kicking ball and asked where the number one ‘K’ ball was. Bear in mind, Vinateri’s only kick of the game came with just under five minutes to go in the second quarter, meaning they played almost an entire half of conference championship football with a suspected thief handling the footballs.
Think about this for a moment. For the last five weeks or so, the chain of custody of game balls has been the most important news story in the country. It led the nightly news on ever major network. The Patriots were vilified for violating the airtight security surrounding the footballs, which threatened the sanctity of the game and shook America to its foundation, but now we find out that the NFL had no problem running a sting operation to try to catch a player whom they knew had stickier fingers than Jerry Rice in 1994.
I’d call it unbelievable, but at this point — there is no stunt the NFL could pull too sleazy for me to believe.
These are the people in charge of the sidelines in a crucial playoff game. This is the level of oversight on these supposedly pristine footballs. This is the league that wants you to believe that before every game the referee checks the air pressure in the balls with minute exactness and meticulously records the results with the attention to detail of an accountant because it’s critical to maintaining competitive balance.
And this is the NFL that’s running the Deflategate investigation. How’s your faith in the integrity of the Wells investigation right about now?
It might be a good time to compare this whole investigation to the McCarthy Hearings. But at least old Tailgunner Joe was going after something real. Say what you want about House UnAmerican Activities Committee, which was no bundle of laughs and went too far I grant you, but the Red Menace was an actual threat and literally getting their real people to put their commie propaganda into movies. Right about now, his Deflategate thing makes the HUAC look like the Jedi Council.
Even Schefter had to concede to Dennis & Callahan that there is an anti-Patriots bias at work here. He called them “the most polarizing team in sports” and that the people who don’t like them “REALLY don’t like them.” That their “glamor boy quarterback” and “unsmiling coach engender an anti-Patriots resentment.” Something I’ve been saying for ten years and a thousand blog posts, but I welcome ESPN’s top football reporter to the club. And this is coming from Schefter who refuses to say the Patriots did nothing wrong in the Colts game. But the idea of an $8 or $9 billion industry putting their footballs in the hands of a known shoplifter is so utterly ridiculous that the whole story is a pathetic joke. My words, not his.
Of course that didn’t stop Kelly Naqi and “Outside the Lines” from rushing to judgment and going on the air to slander Jim McNally. But that’s what witch hunts do. All I can do is ask what they said back during Joe McCarthy’s — at long last NFL, have you no sense of decency?

... and Naqi is from RI. 🙁
hey espn, let Schefter handle things, ok?
the more that gets reported, the deeper into the hole go espn and the NFL.
it's a circus...they're salivating at the idea of burying the Patriots and it's been a month and...nothing.

This just in... Colts GM has confessed it was his team that contacted the NFL in the week prior to the AFC Championship game about the suspicion of under inflated footballs based on their game in November (remember, the head of NFL officiating said the day before the Superbowl that the NFL had not been contacted by any team about the Pats and footballs prior to the AFC Championship game). The spread on next years Pats vs Colts game has been adjusted to 97 1/2. My advice is to take the Patriots.

that's nothin'...that's where it started. Kensil, director of football operations for the NFL,the "point man" on this and... former president of the ...Jets, when BB quit, has it in for the Patriots, there's no doubt at all. He leaked the story to Mortensen. Throw in Grigson and Kensil on the Colts sideline during the game, an NFL official switching and selling footballs, and you can smell the conspiracy from the comfort of your living room.
hey, before anyone jumps all over me... a conspiracy, as sloppy as it may have been should it be true, is as viable a theory as anything else at this point and I think Wells has his hands full.
I'm hearing his report will come out at the owners meetings. In Phoenix. 😛
Goodell's last hurrah.

Seemed an appropriate time to resurrect this thread:

Vegas took the first Patriots game off the board this season because it looks like Brady it going to get suspended. Hmm.... 😮

That is a little too strong for my liking, but I will say:
Patriots are cheaters, they cheat and they have cheaters on their team.

Cheaters Inc. 😛

Patriots still favored.

The Washington Nationals have been the preseason pick to win the World Series the past few years. How has that worked out. The Red Sox were favored to win the AL East this year. Are you making pans for the Victory Parade?

I was just talking about 1 game, the 1st game of the season. The Pats were favored to win that game before the suspension was announced, and they are still favored. That's all I was saying.

On a lighter note, here is a funny one:
If any of you watch/listen to Mike & Mike on ESPN, for the past few weeks and they had a contest where you could enter into a shot to go to the ESPY awards.
The name of the final winner:
Tom Brady. I found that quite funny!

I remain unconvinced that anyone in the Pats organization did anything that remotely resembles what the NFL is punishing them for and the reason it has gotten so ridiculously out of hand is because of an inherently unfair and flawed process and some major mistakes by the commissioner and his minions.

Lol. But the commissioner never displays that kind of emotion in public.

It really doesn't matter if you are convinced or not.

it matters to me too. And all Patriots fans. But whatya gonna do? Some people like to talk about what I (we?) consider pure BS and some, like me, like to talk about the dismantling we laid on the Colts and then beating the Seahawks for ring number 4.
it's whatever blows your hair back...

The stink of cheating will always be associated with this team and its qb. That matters to everyone else.

There isn't an NFL team that doesn't have the stink of cheating associated with it, including whichever team you are a fan of.

Your opinion. One minute, the Patriots didn't do anything wrong. Then you say everyone cheats. Are you saying 29 teams cheat and the Patriots get punished for not cheating? What exactly are you saying?
BTW, I am a 49'ers fan.

Not my opinion, it has been documented. http://yourteamcheats.com/SF
I don't think the Pats did anything with regards to deflategate. That's all I said.

More film of the commissioned visiting Billy B at training camp

Ah, no, not really. No one cares if the Browns cheat. Hell, maybe they should cheat more. 😛

Cleveland Browns general manager Ray Farmer has been suspended without pay for the first four games of the 2015 season for to sending text messages about play selection and personnel usage to their sideline during games last season. He was also fined $250,000. The Browns did not lose any draft picks.
