No such thing as Fake News

Pure tabloids aside - the big papers are not "Fake News".
What is "news"? Current events. Sh!t happens, it gets reported on. Politicians and celebrities say things, it is recorded. I listen to Fox every day on radio at work, and I am hardcore liberal, doesn't bother me - I get the weather, wars, stock market, sports, massacres, and the occasional feelgood bit like "Puppy Rescue," what have you, same as any news.
The bias in papers is in what is omitted, to manipulate attention - which Fox does a lot, and also the opinion pieces. Op-eds are not "Fake News" they are not "news" at all. Op-ed is subjective personal view. I can read a liberal or conservative paper and the info that matters - what happened - does not change.
Interpretation of "What Happened" is up to me alone. I don't waste my time listening to meat puppets with corporate and political hand up their @ss making their mouth move.
Omission of coverage is a strong propaganda tool, it enables us to go about our daily lives without having to worry that our taxes are paying for atrocities - but omission is manipulation, not "Fake News", and is easily rectified by finding missing coverage elsewhere.
So why all the bellyaching about "Fake News"?

There is alot to unpack here but the short answer is first there is a narrative or script that is a theme that the top of the organization embraces- 1) Hillary is an awesome President 2) Bill Clinton is not a rapist 3) Trump/Russia . Then the supporting stories start in earnest- un-named sources? No worries. Conflicting witness stories? - Just print the one that supports our script. Also there is the selective outrage in todays cancel culture. Keith Ellison is a wife beater. Its cool he is still our DNC Chair and Guy. Sean Gillis tells an asian joke- Gone. Al Sharpton is a tax cheat- lets give him his own show on MSNBC.
So yes, the term FAKE NEWS is now part of a big stain on American journalism and mainly the MSM. One last thing about FOX NEWS. They built a network powerhouse just by challenging the ridiculousness coming from CNN and MSNBC and the print media. Its so blatent and out in the open now. Its not even camoflagued as news but really just opinoion pieces. Think about it, if CNN reported just the facts, there would be alot more parity with the competing networks.

1.
. . .there is a narrative or script that is a theme that the top of the organization embraces. . .
2.
. . .un-named sources? No worries. Conflicting witness stories?. . .
3.

Emphatically concur on your post, if the agenda drive can be stretched to include all newspapers - clipped a few highlights to raise some questions.
1. What newspaper has ever NOT had an agenda, conservative or liberal?
2. What paper, conservative or liberal has not used unnamed sources? If you know the source is unnamed or conflicting, then at least the paper has alerted you, and you can judge the story on your own discernment.
3. If opinions are not camouflaged as news, then readers can again take or leave according to their judgement.
All the points you raised are valid as regards agenda-driven reporting. This is not some new invention, all papers have had political leanings since the invention of the press.
The newspaper was originally a purely partisan political phenomenon, extremely so when the Republic was formed and people were enjoying the new liberty of the press. It is naive or disingenuous to say that all news sources have not required personal discernment since its inception. If anything news has become less biased over the course of its history.
As to meat and bones daily news, it does not vary much from paper to paper: Summer was hot, hurricanes caused damage, a bomb went off somewhere, a politician said this or that.
. . . All the rest is propaganda from the opinion people who do our discernment for us competing for control over our lazy minds. And that is opinion, not news, fake or otherwise.

Hillary is an awesome President
I have never seen any news source report this. Where did you see it, "Alternate Reality News" ?

Agree with Brer.
My guess is the same news source that would report that Trump is an awesome President. Possibly the news sources out of Russia or North Korea?

Hahaha you've done that a couple times now, sounds like we are missing some good material. Kinda tame around here since our fang removal. I shouldn't complain I guess, I defected to Steve Hoffman over the summer - it was an actual nazi muzzle zone, you get banned for saying the slightest thing negative. Relief to check back here and see folks duking it out, even if the more colorful and entertaining dialog is gone because some folks got butthurt and snitched. I guess that is how liberty always gets snuffed, a lot of folks just can't handle it.
What I just wrote would get you banned in ten seconds on Steve Hoffshwitz.

The second any organization markets themselves as a news outlet, and then demonstrates a non-factual bias within their reporting, then they have abandoned journalistic integrity and replaced it with drama
This strikes me as idealistic. By this criteria all news outlets are fake. Newspspers will have different angles but you can tease out facts. News has always been reported with bias. But whether or not the paper is calling them "insurgents" or "freedom fighters" you can generally get a location, time, and casualty tally.
I rarely see cable TV, and when I do I only watch movies. I have seen enough TV news to agree that it is pure theater. Smirking liberals, sanctimonious conservatives, all total @sswipe lizardbrains.
Other than basic reality lke weather, sports scores, and obits, news is a propaganda device. At best we can get a fair idea of "What Happened and When It Happened". It is up to us to figure out the "Why and How" it happened by listening to all sides.
Personal discernment takes effort, so like any convenience-driven market, consumers have opted for their thinking to be done for them. What we see now is a battle between our hired proxy thinkers - "my brainwasher can beat up your brainwasher".

Bummer we can't just freely insult, we just have to figure out new ways to encode. Did you know that many nursury rhymes and fairy tales were ways of criticizing the nobility?
Maybe we could start making up nursery rhymes or limericks, riddles, to express our opinions.
Like say:
There once was a troll of Whipping Post
Who all other trolls he did roast
But he just could not make it
Dished out could not take it
That butthurt old troll of Whipping Post

Just wanted to point out to Goob that he missed a couple examples - like Seth Rich, for example..... no agenda there....
Otherwise, good discussion....

I have a question on newspapers:
Why do liberal papers always have way harder crossword puzzles than conservative papers?
For example, The New York Times crossword often stumps me, I can do maybe 2 out of 5, Los Angeles Times crossword is about my speed, Arizona Republic I can nail every time in under five minutes.

Humpty Trumpy promised a wall
Said Mexico would pay for it all
When that didn't work
He resorted to tricks
Shut down the government
'Cause he's nothing but schtick

HahaHA excellent.

Little boy red,
Come blow your trump,
You sheep getting cornholed
With cobs up the rump
But where is the prez
Who looks after the nation?
He's gonzo and trippin
On ego masturbation.

Now that's pretty good.
Please reach out to Andrew Dice Clay. He's pretty witty with the nursery rhymes.

Kinda tame around here since our fang removal.
Just go buy another set of dentures.
