Trying for the old reverse-jinx? 😛

If not the Pats, then I would love to see the Chiefs go all the way...it could be KC's year!!

How cool would a Packers-Chiefs SB I rematch be for Super Bowl 50 (however unlikely). Plus you have the Aaron Rodgers-Alex Smith match up.

This graphic doesn't tell the whole story. Remember, division games heavily dominate the December schedule and quality of the competition in the losses counts - what were the teams fighting for in the losses? Also, a lot of the past SB winners played 3 playoff games which counts as another win compared to bye week teams who squandered their seeding.

THE 2014 PATRIOS FINISHED 3-2 IN DECEMBER (BYE)
True, but they went into Week 14 after a losing a tough game AT Lambeau, winning the next 3 games. They lost week 17 to Buffalo having secured the top seed in the AFC resting most of their starters in the 2nd half.

THE 2013 SEAHAWKS Finshed 3-2 in DECEMBER (NO bye)
True, but those 2 losses were close defeats to Arizona and San Fransisco, the former team trying to make the playoffs (ultimately failing even though they finished 10-6) and the latter they would go on to defeat in the playoffs.

THE 2012 RAVENS WENT 1-4 (NO bye)
True, but the 2012 Ravens clinched the division in week 16. They rested starters in Week 17. One of the other losses was to the Denver Broncos, whom they defeated in OT in the playoffs. This squad is the closest a recent Super Bowl team has come to limping into the playoffs.

THE 2011 GIANTS FINISHED 3-5 (NO bye)
You can't be serious about this? their last 4 games they went 3-1 after losing 4 STRAIGHT games to claim the NFC East title against the Cowboys on the final game of the season to finish 9-7. They were 6-6 and finished 3-1 to make the playoffs where they went 4-0 on the road.

The 2010 PACKERS FINISHED 2-2 or 4-3 (NO bye)
Yes, Green Bay went 2-2, or 4-3, however you want to look at it. They also started the season 4-3 and ended on a 6-3 roll. Again, where ever you want to start counting. Week 14 Aaron Rodgers suffered a concussion and did not play week 15 against New England (back up QB Matt Flynn made it close 27-31). GB had to win out in their next 2 games in order to make the playoffs and destroyed the Giants and defeated the Bears to make the playoffs. They went 4-0 on the road as the 6th seed.

2009 SAINTS LOST 3 STRAIGHT (BYE)
True, but they started 13-0 and rested most starters in week 17. Week 16 was an OT loss to a divisional opponent.

Not included in this graphics...
2008 Steelers ended the season 6-1 to win the AFC North. (BYE)

2007 NY Giants finished 4-0 to get the Wild Card and defeated the 13-3 Cowboys, the 13-3 Packers, and the undefeated NE Patriots. (NO bye)

So yes, momentum exists. Not to say a team can't rest starters for those final games, a bye helps. But some teams catch fire in December after other teams have cooled off. Not to say I'd take KC over NE, but I'd take Pittsburgh over NE.

It was really just a tongue-in-cheek kind of thing, but thanks for doing all this research I had forgotten a lot of that. 😛

Chiefs haven't won a playoff game in 22 years (I was at the last home playoff win, we beat the Steelers in overtime, to illustrate just how long ago that was, the QBs that day were Joe Montana and Neil O'Donnell).

I won't believe it until it happens. Grin

well obviously the problems the colts had this year had nothing to do with pagano and grigson. the real culprits have been found and fired.

http://wishtv.com/2016/01/06/colts-fire-6-from-coaching-staff/

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Colts have fired six coaches from the coaching staff on Wednesday.

The Colts fired the following people: Defensive Coordinator Greg Manusky, Safeties Coach Roy Anderson, Secondary Coach Mike Gillhamer, Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Roger Marandino, Tight Ends Coach Alfredo Roberts and Running Backs Coach Charlie Williams.

“We are grateful for the contributions these coaches have made to the Colts during their time here,” said Head Coach Chuck Pagano. “Obviously these days are never easy. We wish all of these men the best in their future endeavors.”

all 4 divisional winners at home and underdogs.

I like the favorites.

I just don't see either GB, Seattle, Pittsburgh or especially KC losing...road or not.

Must be a recent change. Even so, IMO Green Bay with CRUSH Washington.

So.....
Washington 49
GB 10

How cool would a Packers-Chiefs SB I rematch be for Super Bowl 50 (however unlikely). Plus you have the Aaron Rodgers-Alex Smith match up.

Regardless of who makes it, hopefully the NFL has as many living Packers and Chiefs from the first game on the field pregame at SB50. Wish Bart Starr's health was better...him and Len Dawson at the coin toss would be pretty freakin' cool...

Regardless of who makes it,

No matter who is in SB50, I would hope they honor those who were in SB I.

Sheesh. Patriots fans. Obnoxious bragging they got down to an advanced art form. Reading? Well, maybe not so much.

I'm hoping the rain will end early. I'm cooking for the tailgate now. I'm feeling cautiously optimistic that the Redskins will beat Green Bay.

Regardless, this is my 3rd NFL Playoff game and I'm looking forward to a day of loud revelry and good clean fun.

I almost got tickets to head down from NYC and watch the Packers this weekend and was amazed at how many tickets were available. Turns out I can't make it to the game, but cautious optimism is kind of how Packers fans are approaching the game too - the offense has been tough to watch the past few weeks. Gotta beat Washington, those pigs stole and killed Lombardi!
