I'm guessing we get KC then Cinncy.
then Arizona.
then Number 5.

Another week, another injured quarterback.
That hamstring strain suffered by Indianapolis Colts third-string quarterback Charlie Whitehurst on Sunday in Miami was a little worse than previously thought. Whitehurst on Monday was placed on injured reserve, eliminating him from the picture as the Colts look ahead to Sunday's season finale against the Tennessee Titans.
Whitehurst was in line to start the game, because second-stringer Matt Hasselbeck suffered a Grade 1 throwing shoulder sprain and, according to coach Chuck Pagano, is doubtful to play Sunday. Meanwhile, starter Andrew Luck is still not cleared to return from a lacerated kidney and seems unlikely to play at this point.
So, where does that leave the Colts? With an undrafted quarterback who has never appeared in an NFL game. Stephen Morris, a 30-game starter at the University of Miami, currently is in line to start Sunday's game (1 p.m., CBS).

Re: the Colts. I remember this third string quarterback like it was yesterday

Sounds like the teams need to begin placing a higher priority on the line. Spread that salary cap out in a manner that you can protect that quarterback.

what do you think of this jsz?
manning comes back to indy next year to back up luck and be a qb coach. retire at some point and become offensive coordinator and then finally head coach over say a 7-10 yr time frame?
Interesting, but I think PM is done.

Indianapolis Colts sign QBs Josh Freeman, Ryan Lindley
Former first-round pick Josh Freeman was signed by the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday. Indy also picked up fellow journeyman Ryan Lindley.
The Colts have had extraordinary quarterback misfortune in 2015. Andrew Luck may not see the field again this season, Charlie Whitehurst is on injured reserve, Matt Hasselbeck is doubtful to play Sunday with numerous injuries and the only remaining quarterback on the roster before Tuesday was Stephen Morris, who has bounced between three teams in three seasons without a snap in the league.
Amazingly, the Colts still have a shot at making the postseason -- the odds are nearly one in 3,000. Freeman was himself a long shot to make it back in this league after falling off the map in Tampa Bay, Minnesota and Miami, so the match is fitting. Indianapolis hopes to resurrect Freeman's and/or Lindley's career at the very least for five days and hopefully for the length of the postseason. Given the Colts' luck at the position, a backup sighting against the Titans wouldn't be surprising.

I would not be to quick to proclaim a SB victory over the Cardinals. Palmer should be up for MVP consideration and he does not play dink and dunk passes with his receivers. That team can get the ball down the field and BA is an excellent coach and he wont let up.
And also you gotta get there first. 😉
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

And the NFL coaching carousel starts early this year...Chip Kelly has been fired.

I just heard that. Speculation that he might end up in Tenn. Also rumours Mike Holmgren to the 49ers.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Chip Kelly probably heads to Titans where he connects with Mariotta again. A great fit.
As for playoffs, i figured Pats vs Steelers and Cards vs Panthers were both pretty sure predictions. Steelers blip may cost them. Remains to be seen as Jets never seem to win must games and generally fizzle big time. As a Jets fans and long-time season ticket holder that is the reality and how most of us think. LOL
Funny think in NFL is there are 3 or 4 teams above the pack (Pats, Arizona, Carolina, maybe Pitt) and then 3 or 4 teams below the pack (Browns, Titans, Dolphins) and the other 20 teams are Any Given Sunday IMO

Pittsburgh? Really? I guess they have had some quiet wins against Denver, Cincy, and Arizona, but I'd put the Seahawks up there instead (as much as it pains me to say). They are peaking at the right time. Pittsburgh gave one away last weekend against a bad Baltimore team and might not even make the playoffs (though they should be able to take care of the Browns). Jets look much better, though I know it's hard for Jets fans to enjoy a little success. If the Jets can't bring it this weekend against the Bills with all of the bulletin board material they have, I will be surprised.

Redskin fans just keeping quiet. Feeling sort of numb...

better snap out of it soon if Seattle visits... 😉

Just saw "Concussion". Wow.

i want to try to see it tomorrow night --heard its pretty intense. Hope Jets can beat Buffalo Sunday and paste an end to the Rex Ryan era. I think he did a good job with Jets but his antics this year with picking up the guy who punched Gino Smith and making him a captain and his obnoxious actions after they beat the Jets were way over the top.
I really hope the Jets can get some payback sunday and put themselves in playoffs by beating Rex.

Colts to not retain Pagano after season
Staff Reports
Published: December 31, 2015, 3:38 pm Updated: December 31, 2015, 6:21 pm
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano will not be retained at the end of the season, WISH-TV Colts Insider Mike Wells reports.
Sources tells Wells that Colts general manager Ryan Grigson will be retained through at least the coaching search.
Grigson being held on for the coaching search does not guarantee he’ll remain the Colts general manager through next season, Wells reports.
Grigson will not return if the new coach has his own general manager preference, sources tell Wells.
After making it to the AFC Championship game last season, the Colts have their worst record since 2011, and the team is on the verge of missing the playoffs for the first time since Grigson and Pagano were hired in 2012.
Colts owner Jim Irsay responded to reports of organization changes on Twitter Thursday afternoon.
“As of today, no decision has been made with respect to any structural changes within the Colts organization for 2016 and beyond,” he tweeted.

Ya know, it's probably true about Chuck, but why put this stuff out there? Have some respect for the guy and let him finish his job with some dignity instead of all of this trash media stuff.
I feel bad for Chuck having to put up with all of that stuff floating around out there in the social media and news world.
Sources....whatever.
This report does not make sense either about Grigson. Why would he stay on to find a new coach and then be shown the door possibly. No logic to that .

If this turns out to be true, it is a pretty short-sighted response to one injury-plagued season. It sounds like Pagano turned down a 1-year extension last season, which isn't much of an endorsement for a successful coach. But if he and Grigson aren't getting along, I can't blame him if he wanted to exit as well.

Here is an exert from Bob Kravitz on the Grigson Pagano issues.

It's a good read.
If this stuff is really true Irsay better step up and bounce him out ASAP.
http://www.wthr.com/story/30863550/kravitz-grigsons-meddling-helped-undermine-soon-to-be-fired-pagano
There have been several – I mean, SEVERAL – occasions in the past four years when Grigson and Pagano have crossed swords over personnel issues, but these are just a few of those examples:
•Grigson, who traded a first-round pick to the Cleveland Browns for running back Trent Richardson, continued to insist that Richardson play, and even start, despite the running back’s weight issues and obvious lack of production. According to sources, Grigson was concerned with creating the narrative that it was a good trade, something it clearly was not.
•Grigson insisted the Colts continue to use Josh Cribbs, the veteran punt and kick returner he signed last season, despite the wishes of Pagano and some elements of his coaching staff. Cribbs committed a devastating fumble on a punt return in the AFC title game that opened the door to the Patriots’ 45-7 blowout.
•According to sources, when Pagano wanted to discipline players – one of them being Billy Winn, who was late for some meetings – Grigson overruled him and would not let Pagano do what he wanted to do. "The culture here now is the worst I’ve ever seen it," a source said, pointing to the number of times Colts players have been arrested in the past year or two.
•As reported previously elsewhere and confirmed by my sources, offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton was forced on Pagano. Hamilton was finally fired during the season and replaced by a Pagano confidante, Rob Chudzinski. "Pep was never answerable to Chuck," a source told me. "Pep answered to Ryan, and everybody in the building knew it."
Understand, that is just a snapshot, a small sampling of the areas where Grigson strong-armed Pagano. My sources said there were multiple examples where Grigson overstepped the usual GM/coach boundaries, but these were a few of the ones they were willing to share.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

This is going to be a fun day to watch the games and track the outcomes. I can't even keep it all straight as far as who might be in, who might be out and the seedings.
I hope Pittsburgh gets in. But I also wouldn't mind seeing the Jets.
Packers/Vikings should be a fun way to close out the regular season.
Happy Sunday!

Bring on the Bungles

Hearing there is a "credible" second source in the Peyton Manning HGH allegations. Hmmm...

Tom Coughlin is resigning after 12 seasons as Giants head coach. Wonder if Reese will be sticking around?
Do coaches need to officially retire then wait five years for HoF induction like players? Not sure how that works for coaches.

WOW
http://www.indystar.com/story/sports/nfl/colts/2016/01/04/colts-keep-coach-chuck-pagano/78284658/
33-15 in 1st 3 yrs with one year really coached by Arians. 18 of those wins in the worst division in the league. 8-8 this year. half of those with an unprepared backup offensive co-ordinator who couldn't speak the language of the man he replaced because the coach (pagano) didn't prepare, even though it has been said hamilton was forced upon him and wanted him dumped. amazing.
well at least their division will still suck next year.

I'm liking the way Seattle is playing right now. Wondering if Carolina is ready?

I think jimmy irsay has been hanging out at the 1st church of cannabis to much
Doyel: Chuck Pagano saves his job ... and Ryan Grigson's
"Anything is possible, and Exhibit A is the stunning press conference the Colts offered late Monday night – when embattled coach Chuck Pagano was not fired and embattled general manager Ryan Grigson was not fired – and owner Jim Irsay said the way he came to both of those decisions was “an organic process, it’s a thoughtful process, it’s a spiritual process.”
And the church said: Huh?"

It is surprising to say the least that they extended both Pagano AND Grigson after some of the reports that came out over the last week or so...should be an interesting 4 years in Indy!
According to ESPN's Mike Wells, Chuck Pagano and Ryan Grigson's relationship is so "toxic" that the two have "little communication" with each other and their relationship is described as "100 times worse" than the Colts' awful play on the field this year.

They are rolling for sure!

It really looks like the NFC has the cream of the crop going into the playoffs. Carolina, Seattle, and Arizona look better than Denver and New England. Typically, the teams with the most momentum in Dec are the teams that go far in January. Arizona got trounced by Seattle, yes, but division games with not much on the line for one of those teams (Cardinals) don't always tell you much. Minnesota might give Seattle a test, but I don't see them beating the Seahawks, even though I'd love to see their season over ASAP.
My Packers have no momentum. 4-6 in the last 10 games and 0-2 to end the season with seeding on the line doesn't inspire a great deal of confidence - unless McC actually wanted to play the worst NFC team, the Redskins, and this was all on purpose (highly doubt it). The Packers started the season quick out of the gate, building big leads early. Since then, the defense has had to keep us in games so we can play catch up. It's been a grind. They could get hot, but they need a gut check if they want to go beyond Washington.
The AFC is pretty up in the air. New England's injuries have caught up to them, but I wouldn't count them out even if I wouldn't be scared of them. Denver has a QB controversy, never good going into the playoffs but they have 2 weeks to figure it out. I wouldn't be afraid of either QB they field. Cincy might be starting a backup QB. Pittsburgh looks solid, and might be the dark horse. KC is on a roll but haven't played a decent team in 8 weeks. And then there's Houston...
I was bummed The Jets blew their playoff chance, they were on a nice roll. But if they couldn't bring it against their old coach, they don't deserve to make the playoffs. Of course, most Jets fans I know had already assumed they would lose. Jets fans can be real depressing.
