While we were playing the fool, a story broke where Brady wants a rule change to protect the knees of receivers.

Soooooo...the guy that sued the NFL to render its discipline and power worthless wants that same league to hear him out...on a rule?

As if. Grin

Yeah I saw that today. I understand it stinks to lose players and there are many teams that do, but it's part of the game and always has been. Players have to make tackles. Fortunatley for Rob G it was not season ending.

Just to be clear, Brady didn't just throw this out there, he was asked a specific question about it and he answered with his opinion. It's not like he's lobbying for it. That said, there are already rules intended to protect the knees of lineman and QBs as well as rules to protect "defenseless receivers" in general, so is it such a stretch to think a rule specific to receivers' knees doesn't at least deserve some discussion?

Yesterday's kidding aside, IMO, the Patriots probably aren't the right team to be complaining about the enforcement (or lack thereof) of rules.

I see, so you really don't think that the rules should apply to them just like everyone else. Good to know. 😛

Seriously, Brady was not complaining he was answering a specific question. Gronk, on the the other hand, has a beef IMO when it comes to the OPI calls, but I don't think its going to change (think Hack-a-Shaq) so he needs to accept that they are going to call OPI on him differently than everyone else and adjust accordingly (or just take the calls).

No, what I mean is, over those several months of Deflategate there were some pretty serious bombs thrown by the Pats and their fans right back at the NFL, yourself included.:P

You know, how much of a joke the NFL is, how much of a joke Goodell is, how their enforcement of rules is a joke, all that.

It just doesn't go immediately back to "Hey guys! We're buddies again!" Not with the size of the egos involved in that league. You know that. 😉

Yeah, I know where Brady was coming from, I just think there's a long way to go before there's any semblance of one big happy family of NFL teams all in it for the greater good.

I don't disagree, really. The simple fact that I am watching any NFL games this season makes me feel like a hypocrite. But then again, I am a fan and "fan" is short for fanatic and the textbook definition of fanatic is "a person filled with excessive and single-minded zeal, especially for an extreme religious or political cause" so I guess that means I am an excessive extremist (and therefore probably shouldn't own a gun...oopps, wrong thread). In any case, that should explain my erratic behavior on this issue. 😛

And not for nuthin, but it seems to me that issues with poor in-game officiating this season seem to be catching on far beyond the confines of Patriot nation.

On that I agree!!! Largest live entertainment conglomerate in America and they can't get the calls right.

Glad I stayed late at work tonight instead of watching the Lions game. If you jump out to a 17-0 lead and only manage two field goals the rest of the game, you deserve to lose. That being said what a terrible call on the face mask. After seeing the replay I asked myself if Clay Matthews did that to Matthew Stafford would they have called it. I'm not sure they would have. Also looks like the refs missed a block to the back on the hail mary.

The saddest part of being a Lions fan is that they are the franchise that seems destined to never make a super bowl. Only franchise to be around all 50 years of the super bowl and never play in one.

What no one is talking about is how well the Packers defense played in the 2nd half. A major turnover, a couple of 3 and outs. I have been waiting for a gut check game from this team and we finally got one.

The face mask wasn't egregious, but it was a face mask. Any QB's head turns, they get that call too. There is so much going on in the scrum of a hail mary, I didn't see anything that you could call a block in the back. The pass play prior, the Detroit defender never turned around and ran into the receiver so it goes both ways.

And the Cleveland Browns have also been around since the SB era and never played in one, so you're not alone. The young Jaguars and Texans franchises are the only other teams to never play in a Super Bowl, which makes it kind of sad that 2 old NFL teams have had such futility the past few decades.

Browns missed the early 90s era-of the SB while on their four-year hiatus
their ending last Sunday was just as unbelievable -- "no OT, no OT, No OT" was the chant from near & far -- well there wasn't alright as Browns fans looked on in another case of only-in-Cleveland disbelief
the Browns gotta lead the league when it comes to mind-boggling ways to lose games....there have been some beauties

It's tough witnessing The Browns the past 2 decades, especially with not only Baltimore's success since, but Belicheck's as well. The only thing they had going for them were their classic uniforms and they managed to ruin those. The Browns peak in the Super Bowl-era was also "The Fumble". That's gotta be depressing.

The one I remember best while trying to forget this week's thrashing, is the early 1980s playoff game against Oakland -- they had the game won, 1st & goal trailing by 2 points w/30 seconds or so left -- all they had to do was kick a FG -- but Brian Sipe decided to pass it instead -- interception, game over

another comes to mind from the Sam Rutigliano/Bernie Kosar era, when they had the ball for a final drive -- & let the final 1:30 tick off without even hiking the ball --

I'm just playin' along...

I'm an Eagles fan so I'm just waiting to see what the complaints will be after this weekend.

"The Pats were clearly disadvantaged by having to play such a woefully sucky team. More proof that the NFL is out to get us!!"

😛

And if the Pats win we'll be hearing about how BB and TB spiked the Eagles gatorade with roofies and pumped "Dirty Water" by the Standells into the Eagles headsets the whole game. Such is life in the NFL these days. Cool 😛

If they did it didn't work. Grin

Tip of the cap to the Eagles. They played all 3 phases today, the Pats did not. Looked like TB12 might get them to OT, but it was not to be. This game was lost/won on special teams and at the line of scrimmage. The good news for the Pats is that no major injuries this week for a change.

I wouldnt go that far...

But as an Eagles fan, this will likely be the high point of the year for me! So I'm celebrating.

I just hope TB12 isn't feeling too deflated this morning.

ok. We stunk.

Whoever wins NFC East will probably be seeded 4 and get a home game.

with Seattle.

I'm sure Tom woke up next to Giselle. Can't be that bad...

What about Tom Brady? He is averaging 36 yards per catch. Grin

The 'Pokes are 4-8 and Jerry won't put Romo on IR because he thinks we are a playoff contender. Has he watched this team this year? My goodness Jerry, take your meds and start looking at the draft.

They're only one game out of the lead in the NFC Least. At the moment, they are a playoff contender. Grin

Even if they somehow got into the playoffs, which would just be sad, they are certainly no contenders for anything.

the NFL should disqualify the winner of NFC East from the playoffs on general principle. No one in that division is deserving

Agreed. Did you hear Young, Dilfer, and the guys commenting after the Redskins-Cowboys' game about how bad it was? At this point its just embarrassing.

I love the division races. The 2002 re-alignment that created 8 division winners out of 4 teams a piece has been one of the highlights of the NFL season. Even more so once they began scheduling more division games towards the end of the season. And with the past 2 sub-.500 playoff teams winning playoff games (2014 Panthers, 2010 Seahawks) it's hard to argue against keeping things the way they are (unless you are Bucs/Falcons fans who are at .500). I'd be ok requiring at least a non-losing record before granting another wild card to a team with a better record, that might make it even more exciting as the teams fight to get to .500 in week 16 and 17. I'd hate for it to turn into the the NBA, which completely ignores divisions for its playoff berths and takes the top 8 from each conference and still has sub .500 teams in the playoffs.

At the risk of being non-PC (which I am) and hopefully not insensitive (which I am not) the NFL East has turned into the Jerry Lewis Telethon
