Ok, Bhawk, I guess I pushed a button. Sorry. Please take a deep breath and relax, it's not that bad. Even though we don't agree, I do respect your opinion and understand where it is coming from, even if the trash talking sports fan in me makes it seem otherwise.

PS - It seems like maybe you and Brendan didn't pick up on my intentional (and what I thought was obvious) use of hyperbole in my "witch hunt" reference, which was in response to your own hyperbolic statement "...see them win by cheating in every single way possible and declaring themselves bigger than the league and the game."

Scott, I may or may not be trolling you. There's no one to have an intelligent argument with politics on the WP anymore, so, I was bored, and, you're a bit of an easy mark and...

...if I got your blood pressure up I apologize, well, maybe...:P:P:P:P:P:P:P:P

I'm good. I really thought you were the one with the rising blood pressure. lol Political trash talk is one thing, but sports trash talk should never be taken too seriously. Cool

I'm just playin' along...

I'm an Eagles fan so I'm just waiting to see what the complaints will be after this weekend.

"The Pats were clearly disadvantaged by having to play such a woefully sucky team. More proof that the NFL is out to get us!!"

😛

And if the Pats win we'll be hearing about how BB and TB spiked the Eagles gatorade with roofies and pumped "Dirty Water" by the Standells into the Eagles headsets the whole game. Such is life in the NFL these days. Cool 😛

While we were playing the fool, a story broke where Brady wants a rule change to protect the knees of receivers.

Soooooo...the guy that sued the NFL to render its discipline and power worthless wants that same league to hear him out...on a rule?

As if. Grin

If we've learned nothing else this season it's that the NFL doesn't need more rules, it needs refs who know how to interpret them.
not just talking about the NE - Denver game. the list is quite long, starting with the NFL "apologizing" for the ref's screw up in the Seattle - Detroit game

Yeah I saw that today. I understand it stinks to lose players and there are many teams that do, but it's part of the game and always has been. Players have to make tackles. Fortunatley for Rob G it was not season ending.

I had Detroit plus 3 and under 47. I was enjoying myself, languidly eating bon bons and sipping hot cocoa...

Glad I stayed late at work tonight instead of watching the Lions game. If you jump out to a 17-0 lead and only manage two field goals the rest of the game, you deserve to lose. That being said what a terrible call on the face mask. After seeing the replay I asked myself if Clay Matthews did that to Matthew Stafford would they have called it. I'm not sure they would have. Also looks like the refs missed a block to the back on the hail mary.

The saddest part of being a Lions fan is that they are the franchise that seems destined to never make a super bowl. Only franchise to be around all 50 years of the super bowl and never play in one.

Just to be clear, Brady didn't just throw this out there, he was asked a specific question about it and he answered with his opinion. It's not like he's lobbying for it. That said, there are already rules intended to protect the knees of lineman and QBs as well as rules to protect "defenseless receivers" in general, so is it such a stretch to think a rule specific to receivers' knees doesn't at least deserve some discussion?

From an article in the Philadelphia Daily News:

Tom Brady continues to deflate defenses at an almost amusing rate.

You see what he did there??? 😉

What they should've done was call a timeout. Can you call a timeout on a play with no time on the clock.

Yes. Did they have any timeouts left?

IMO, what the Lions did wrong was not having a defender in front of the Packer's receivers. They were all behind them, so no one could break up the pass.

Yesterday's kidding aside, IMO, the Patriots probably aren't the right team to be complaining about the enforcement (or lack thereof) of rules.

They have won more games than I thought they would after the terrible start to the season.
