Well now we know why Trump is against it!!! Deporting your in-laws? You can't question his intelligence on this matter.
Immigrants love their family just like US citizens, but leaving one's home country comes with tough decisions - one of which is leaving loved ones behind. I am not very much in favor of legal immigrants being able to sponsor parents under preferential treatment. Children and spouse, yes. Beyond that, no. Makes no difference to me if it is the first lady's parents or not. I would rather focus efforts to tighten up illegal immigration issues first, but I think there are ways to reform our legal immigration system to best suit our countries needs and that of immigrants wishing to contribute and this is one of them, to limit family reunification petitions aka chain migration. Melania's parents don't exactly fit into what I think we need here.
The economic costs of chain immigration are staggering. As someone in health care I can’t tell how many times professionals immigrate; being their parents over and the parents end up on welfare/Medicaid. We all pay the bill

This tells me that lawyers specializing in immigration law can and will find ways to get their client to qualify for respective visas. Does the Trump connection help (not just Trump directly but the associated references)? Does money help? Does knowing the right immigration lawyer help who knows the system inside and out help? Yes to all of those. Isn't everything in life some combination of personal ability, the right opportunity, who you know or how much money you have to achieve what you want? Is the implication that something happened that shouldn't have happened here? Get the right immigration lawyer with enough money and just about anyone can probably get that EB-1 visa.
