Congress has passed the time-honored tradition of heaping helpings of Christmas pork in the spending bill before they take their holiday break.

No shutdown, no threats, the usual remarks tossed about, of course, but by and large, a bi-partisan agreement rather easily passed.

So...

Is it a good thing that they finally acted like Congress folk usually do in the more genteel way...

Or...

Is it a bad thing, more government overspending as usual?

Or...

Can it be both?

98 years ago today Congress passed the 18th Amendment also known as Prohibition.
That worked out well for one particular special interest group known as The Mob.

Not much has changed since.

Overall it is a good thing, but I believe that the only reason it happened is because next year is an election year.
