The complete opposite of what Senator McCain stood for.

Such fake outrage. It's an Allman Brothers website thread, get a grip. Try harder to not be offended by something so insignificant.

I am guessing you believe I think the President to be a "Hero"?

Hahahaha!

Your line: "A thread started to Honor a great American hero has spiraled into hatred of another....." reads as if you were referring to "another hero".

"as if"....My apologies for not being grammatically clear.
Cool

I bet I am the only one here who voted for him

I did not, but admire him enough to pay my respects and move on.

McCain passes away and Trump disparages the Senator.
Thread started about McCain and people deride the President.

Can not the Senator just have the respect due him?

Difficult, I know.

So, the President disparages McCain, and if anyone has an issue with the President, they are actually disrespecting McCain?

Alrighty then.

Can not the Senator just have the respect due him?

Isn't that a question better asked of the President?

In a thread started on a Musical website intended to honor a War Hero/Career Politician?

I would say yes, they are.

So we are disparaging the president if McCain disparaged the president who disparaged McCain?

The man is dead. For goodness sake, would you have brought up Trump's name at his funeral? Or would you have stood there, paid your respects and kept your thoughts to yourself.

Seems pretty self explanatory.

Donald Trump is an asshole who continues to remind everyone he is an asshole on a daily basis.

Like I said originally, I know we would be a better nation with more people like John McCain, in light of the new direction of this thread I will add the same can't be said for Trump.

How's that indignation/sanctimony cocktail treating you? Kickin in a solid cortisol rush? Maybe I should try some, I've been huffin the insolence/condescension combo, it just isn't doing the trick.

Why would he get banned? Goober is one of our more civil contributors. Never once seen him pick a fight or insult anyone, or post a gif of a nazi getting his balls shot off, or a fanus. Why haven't I been banned?

Again, this is a discussion, not a statue. You started arguing with people who take issue with those who feel a wall and trade wars are worth the very dignity that McCain stood for. McCain was not one to remain silent in the face of ignorance.

A "Discussion" about respect for a man who has passed away. A "discussion" about a man who defined tact and heroism. A "Discussion" about him, his memory.

Once again, difficult I know.

Oh, sorry I missed the narrow purview of this thread in the title/description. Thanks for determining what we can discuss in a thread you didn't start. Bizarre for someone who has himself hijacked entire threads whining about being able to write whatever he wants because "opinion". This is whole tangent you've created here is seriously some Category 5-level Tantrum nonsense. You're arguing with people who respect McCain's memory, which means what ever your point is, it's totally counter-productive. And you're so eager to be contrary that you can't see that. You're not upset with what people are saying, rather the particular INTERNET DISCUSSION THREAD they have chosen to say it in. Like it's sacred or something. Think about that. It's actually really bizarre.

Don't fret, it is only McCain's ghost, refusing to be muzzled by death, taunting the toadies of the Pretender.

Rage on against the dying of the light John, don't let them sanitize your memory with the sanctimony of the grave , you were our last best hope . . .

Do not go gentle into that good night.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

- Dylan Thomas

BIG"V" has turned in to this site's #1 troll. He fights with everyone here...me, Brer, porkchopbob, 2112, MartinD28, and he even fights in the Anything Goes section. He just can't help himself. He's so misunderstood, and always victimized by others. Nothing but a troll.

I voted for McCain. Think he would have been a good decision.

The panicked decision to pick a loon just cause she was female I believe had a negative effect on ten years of American politics

If you mean Palin, yeah no doubt. I think McCain had some Tracy/Hepburn romance vision, old soldier and moxy young woman fighting for the free world - was trying to be modern, wrong choice, picking a Nugentess for running mate.

Yeah, he really self-destructed his own campaign by picking Palin. But nobody was going to beat Obama regardless of who McCain picked. Their popularity wasn't even close.

emr, what do you mean by a "negative effect on ten years of American politics"?

I think the Republican party had its credibility shot; party division bw Red and Blue becaome greater; 2016 election happened (horror show on both sides0

And Obama had momentum; but picking human candidate for VP would have not lead to the debacle that SP did.

I don't know why Trump says negative things about McCain. He had differing opinions on issues but I voted for him because of his beliefs on foreign policy. He did not want to get us involved in wars unnecessarily or go anyplace in a show of force. His approach was quietly and clandestine to limit civilian casualties. He was a prisoner of war and his time as a prisoner gave him time to reflect on war in ways others who have not been in that position can understand. He was quiet, soft spoken and very smart. He should be allowed to rest in peace, his tasks were completed here on earth.

Trump says negative things because he is a negative person on many fronts. He's always looking for a fight to pick with whomever he can go after. He is very jealous of all the respect and admiration people give to JM.

You are right, "He was quiet, soft spoken and very smart. He should be allowed to rest in peace, his tasks were completed here on earth." Unfortunately Trump, the guy you admire disagrees with you and continues to pick fights with a man in heaven. Trump is a disgusting human being who lacks basic decency.

Remember when Trump went after a Gold Star Father & Mother. Very classy.

Based on what? Mid terms, losing control in the House? Presidential approval rating?

I think George Will said it best when he described Trump as "Pathologically Insecure."

It explains a great deal about Trump's personality, behavior, and need to create the appearance that he's equal or better than, well, pretty much everyone on planet earth in all manner of existence.

Whether the world's greatest business man, negotiator, patriot, economist, military strategist, etc. etc....
