I support Israel, didn't I just post several comments indicating that I regard Israel highly? And I'm not right wing. (I consider it good politics to piss off both the right and left).

My point was that the American right claims to support Israel, but their politics, especially with regard to women's equality (trying like hell to keep on topic here!), could not be further from Israel's position. America, left or right, could learn a lot from Israel.

You are of course entitled to your opinion. We all know what opinions are like, everybody's got one. You have two, north and south.

Can you show me some examples (not outliers) of the American right not supporting equal rights. I am considered to be on the right and I support equal rights. Thank you for acknowledging that Israel does indeed support liberal values. (real liberal values)

not to ignore your question brer doug, just a quick post re robslob's grand finale, good stuff

had to comment re this

what kind of human beings are we men if we try to punish women economically for staying at home and raising their children?

Short answer, not human beings at all, but monsters.

Longer answer... as a single divorced parent and primary caregiver of a kid, a deeply autistic kid, I can tell you it is double the hours and way tougher work than any job I have ever done, and when I return to work and his mom takes over it is like a holiday!

The primary caregiver, man or woman, is doing work, and deserves recognition, as well as financial recompense, not for being a great mom, or for their selfless angelic sacrifice but for ACTUAL WORK PERFORMED. Point: Raising kids is work. Not something you choose other than work, it is WORK. grueling, brutal, flat out hard damn work.

I've been seriously considering your post for a few minutes. Though I agree with you on just about, well, nothing actually, it's good that you can come here and have this place be a sort of refuge, a quick getaway to talk with some good folks, as I know it is with me and I'm sure many others.

and good on ya, man. Cool

With all due respect to my fellow liberals here you complain about Mule trolling, derailing threads, constantly attacking the Dems and there followers yet you keep responding to his posts.

If you want to take away his powers to disrupt stop responding to him. By responding you empower him to do the very things you complain about.

Really piacere? You don't think that raising kids is work? That was the point of my post. How could anyone not agree with that? Please explain, I have always valued your opinion, and enjoyed your posts and am honestly baffled that you don't think child-rearing is as tough as any other job, or tougher. I can only guess that you have never done the lion's share of raising a kid.

For starters, a mom is:

Janitor
Counselor
Coach
Biohazard Cleanup
Chauffeur
Nurse
Educator
Chef
Housekeeper

(and thx for the nod, brother it is really rough, we all got troubles so power to everyone, you all rock)

I think you're misinterpreting piacere's post:

When he says he agrees with you on just about nothing, I think he's saying in general, only, on this website. I don't think he was contradicting you that raising kids is hard work.

hey thx for the clarification, above and beyond and more than anyone deserves in the fog of whipping post war. And double thx for the props, and right backatcha you know, much as I rip on everyone I have come to love you all. And certainly don't expect agreements, or I wouldn't go brawling in the WP.

Kind of embarrassed I joined in the playground pile-on muleman. Not my style. I may be antagonistic, but I don't like getting personal.

My ideas are certainly not set in stone. For the record.

Forgive the thread hijack, looks like this one kind of blew up anyway

I respect and admire President Carter. I was 16 years old and living in Middle Georgia when he was elected. I've read a couple of his books. I've met him on several occasions. I think cutting the rug with the Southern Baptist Convention was a very difficult decision. I believe him to be an honorable man and I believe this decision is indicative of his integrity and moral compass.

I doubt any of those folks who have criticized him on this thread will positively impact society and the world a fraction as much as Jimmy Carter has positively influenced our planet.

He is a great man.

I don't want to influence you with any far left propaganda so you will have to look it up yourself. You can start with researching Guinea worm eradication. Although Carter's contributions to society far exceed that amazingly successful program.

How have you influence society Mule? You are judging the works of a great man. You must have contributions, successes that rival President Carter's contributions and successes. I'd love to hear what qualifies you to judge. What have you done to make you a better man than Carter?
