I think it weht unanswered in the sense that the behind the lines real orchestrator of the attacks was thought to be Iran, the same nation Pres Obama is trying to waive sanctions and pave a path towards a nuclear bomb for. they covered their tracks well enough to avoid a serious US response.

The word "ties" is so vague and non-specific that it is meaningless in reality, and it is generally used to assert an official connection or other kind of association/support where none exists. Carter has done more to try to bridge the gap between the warring neighbors in the middle east than any other president before or since. Of course he's been labelled as an anti-Semite as does pretty much anyone who doesn't endorse Israel's view of the world, but that doesn't make his quote that robslob posted wrong in any way.

Reading the quote below from the Carter essay, I fail to see how Carter is being irrelevant. And any discussion of Carter's politics is irrelevant to his view of the church's treatment of women.
So my decision to sever my ties with the Southern Baptist Convention, after six decades, was painful and difficult. It was, however, an unavoidable decision when the convention's leaders, quoting a few carefully selected Bible verses and claiming that Eve was created second to Adam and was responsible for original sin, ordained that women must be "subservient" to their husbands and prohibited from serving as deacons, pastors or chaplains in the military service.

When the liberals here are unable to craft an opposing argument or opinion they often just attack me.
If they don’t like my competing contention, make your point, make your view known.
Apparently it is okay to attack The Republicans, often with disgusting language, but The Democrats and their followers are immune from criticism.
