Flynn & Trump when used in a discussion about "the truth" are mutually exclusive entities.
The circumstantial evidence of a Russia-Trump connection is there. The investigation needs to find something irrefutable for a Republican lead congress to do anything about it.
But even if there isn't very much there, the Democrats should learn from the Republicans that if you repeat something over and over enough times, the damage will be done. Some Republicans (and maybe even some Democrats) still believe that Hillary was somehow responsible for Benghazi despite being cleared by investigation after investigation. Time for the Democrats to stop taking the high road and start playing in the mud like the Republicans do.
