Islam has separated males and females as children in schools, in the masjids (houses of prayer), in the workplaces. Now Pakistan is launching the first women only taxi cabs. Women who want to work will work driving them and women who need to get around town will patronize them. The problem is that strict Islam mandates women do not travel by themselves without a male relative present. The Saudis have been adamant against women driving because they say there is evidence that doing so tilts a woman's pelvis and can cause problems with their childbearing later on, so in Saudi they have drivers to take them where they need to go.

Where will the lines be drawn as the so called freedom and liberation of democracy seek to empower women in countries that have largely kept their women under wraps and controlled? Is their new empowerment a blessing or ultimately a curse for them as their society yields to democracy and secularist practices.

It might be a hot idea to try in the US, women might like that.
