Intelligence report warned of Coronavirus as early as November 2019

Most people are blind to the other sides point of view. I don't know too many people that aren't jaded by their parties ideology and won't or can't accept an opposing point of view. I have never seen anyone, on either side, accept the other sides ideas or points of view or change their mind on almost any politically charged subject.
The left hates Trump and that won't change. Nothing he does will be good enough. In the same way, Biden sucks for those on the right and he will never do anything that will be good enough.
The middle ground has gone away in this country. It is pretty much all or nothing when it comes to politics.
I didn't need my government to tell me that this could end up being a problem. If Italy wasn't a wake-up call to you, then shame on you. That is when our family started to prepare. If you are waiting for your government to wipe your a$$ then you get what you deserve.
As the Beatles once said, Think for yourself.
I don't think anyone here is saying we need the government to necessarily inform us or wipe our @ss, or hold our hands through this process, just use the power exclusive in the federal gov't to manage the response in such a way as only the federal gov't can.
The most obvious example being the supply chain and shortage issue and the price gouging going on as we speak. A second example is bringing the full brunt of the federal scientific and medical research apparatus to bear on testing, treatment, immunization, etc...We know both of these responses were delayed significantly for several days and weeks. Nothing partisan about it, these are facts...

I live in New York and while I have my issues with Cuomo, I think he's done a great job managing the Covid 19 pandemic.
From the very gutsy call of shutting down the state economy and school districts early in the crisis (and taking full responsibility for the fall out) to making such politically fraught decisions as requiring upstate and western NY hospitals to contribute 20% of their ventilators should NYC need them, to the simple act of being truthful about the facts and not getting into the political blame game when baited to do so.
I also appreciate the fact that he's candid about his limited expertise with the specifics of Covid 19 and defers to and encourages the professionals in the state and country to advise him and others in the state. He also goes out of his way to "humanize"
the destruction this pandemic has caused as a way to illustrate how we truly are all in this together.
Finally, he has been very out in the open in his disappointment and criticism with both Democratic and Republican House and Senate leaders who he feels have done little to help not only New York but other states ravaged by this pandemic. As an example, he very publicly chastised Chuck Schumer and by extension Kirsten Gillibrand and the various House members all across New York for not getting more financial relief for the states.

If you're watching Cuomo right now, contrast his on going press conference with that of Trump last evening and it's a great example of how fortunate we New Yorker's and I suspect many in the nation are to have functioning adults running things.
Trump is truly a whiny little child who between last night and this mornings tweet storm is throwing a temper tantrum. Caligula unhinged....

Are you saying you didn't see entertainment value in Trump's highlight reel during yesterday's Covid Presser?

In today's presser Cuomo provided a very simple civics lesson about the Constitution, the 10th Amendment, and the absurdity of Trump's claim of having complete authority. So simple, I suspect, that it was by design delivered so that Trump and perhaps some of his less than sophisticated followers could follow along and understand.
As an example, he included a powerpoint with pictures and bullet points which he read aloud. You just know that was meant so dear leader could keep up and not have to actually read thereby not straining his brain. All kidding aside, Cuomo delivered this lesson in a very respectful and non condescending way so as to please dear leader.
The two leaders these past 44 days have been in complete contrast to one another. From the way Cuomo is trying to build consensus and bring us together, to the way Cuomo presents facts and figures, to the way he skillfully illustrates his sympathy and empathy for the citizens, to the way he respects and interacts with the press.

but...they like the *tRump "talks"
It boggles my mind to think of how we got here and that people actually think *tRump should hold the most powerful office in the world...not just this country but the entire world...but not anymore the rest of the world now looks to Angle Merkel but yet they still like the way he talks...Only under this man do we need to shutdown our country due to his complete lack of ability to be informed and act accordingly

Cuomo: "We're going to make it because I love New York, and I love New York because New York loves you. New York loves all of you. Black and white and brown and Asian and short and tall and gay and straight. New York loves everyone. That's why I love New York. It always has, it always will. And at the end of the day, my friends, even if it is a long day, and this is a long day, love wins. Always. And it will win again through this virus. Thank you."

I feel fortunate to have him as governor during this pandemic even though I haven't agreed w/everything he did prior to this. I appreciate most that he said "the buck stops w/me; the responsibility is mine" early on. He's organized, rational, candid at the same time encouraging a level of calm & lack of confusion not present on the federal level.
I do, however, wish he'd get his brother Chris to stop broadcasting his bout of COVID-19. Things are bad enough w/o seeing the latest photo on the CNN site.

"the rest of the world now looks to Angle Merkel"
I'm not sure the extent that is true, but if it is good. Let Germany bear the burden of being the world's hero.
"only under this man do we need to shutdown our country due to his complete lack of ability to be informed and act accordingly"
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't every country "shutdown". Am I misinformed, is business as usual taking place in...say Germany? So I guess all the leaders of these countries around the world must lack the ability to be informed and act accordingly since they had to shut their countries down too?

You are right nebish a lot of countries shutdown because of this. Now can you tell me his response was timely. Or that he's used his power to give the states what they need?? Or that he actually gives a rat azz about anything but himself...are you that far gone that you can't see what he is...and I'm also sorry that you don't appreciate what our country was to the world and what people in my family died to make happen...The fact that we lead an now are laughed at tells me how you think about what we fought for

No
Or that he's used his power to give the states what they need??
Short answer, not out of the gate, but they have corrected some of that.
Or that he actually gives a rat azz about anything but himself
No
...are you that far gone that you can't see what he is
I know who I am and what I believe, which I try to articulate in my words here, which I know might not get it across properly and I understand that people don't always read everything or know what all somebody has or hasn't said. I think I know who he is and if you are familiar with my posts, then you probably know that I think he is a jackass. That doesn't mean I must always just go along with what people who also think he is a jackass say.
...and I'm also sorry that you don't appreciate what our country was to the world and what people in my family died to make happen...The fact that we lead an now are laughed at tells me how you think about what we fought for
You have no right to make that accusation. What the people of our country have done, are doing and will do in service for our country is above anything else - the sacrifice these people accept from family time, personal time, potential mental and physical injury that last a lifetime and in some cases the ultimate price of sacrificing one's life in the service of their country, our country, makes those extraordinarily special people in an elite class that deserves eternal respect and remembrance.
Now, do I...do you...always support the missions that our government engages in? Vietnam? Iraq? Arming this group to fight that group, which can ultimately backfire and run off course? Going around stirring up beehives all over the world, creating enemies and resentment in the process? The loss of life, the loss of dollars that get spent abroad while that money could've been spent to do more here? All while we run hundreds of billions to trillion dollar annual budget deficits...for decades now? Giving money to prop global groups and countries when we are borrowing it from somebody else just to afford to give it away? No. I don't. I do not want the lives of those serving our county or the finances of this country spent...for global interests, for corporate interests, for imperial power interests? Honestly, it's time some other country took the lead and we can take a seat on the bench for a bit, do some self evaluation, build up our working class instead of the working class in a country like India or China. Look around at the things we can do, should do, to make our country a better place here, a stronger place, a more independent and healthy place. A lot of heartache and headache comes with being the global leader, sometimes it just isn't worth it. Unfortunately, in some cases the blood and treasure has been lost has been wasted. I am very sorry for that. Somebody else can take lead, maybe if Merkel is the leader you say she is, Germany can make the world a better place, I think some other nations can step up. It doesn't mean we completely step away, I support a step back.
