She is still a political figure with celebrity status and that is why what happens to her is news. since the Democrats want to put Joe Biden up as their poster child for President next time, (especially since Trump will seek a second term) things will be different for her in 2020. Her life has not been an easy one, campaigning for Bill during his early years in Arkansas, then his political campaigns for President, that is a lot of work, and then being the Secretary of State Department role that is a long career. Working like that takes it's toll on anybody.
The press is probably too critical of her. She may not have shoes that fit properly, has anyone even considered that? The best shoes I ever head were custom made for me in Central America, and also some shoes from Spain, these get them off the rack shoes in this country just don't fit right. They tell you that you have to break them in and your feet will get used to them. Having had shoes from other countries that fit when I tried them on, I know we suffer from poor workmanship in shoes. My best sandals came from Germany.
