GOP Convention Day 3

“The day that pledge was abrogated was the day this became personal. I am not in the habit of supporting people who attack my wife. [I’m not going to] come like a servile puppy dog and say, ‘thank you very much for maligning my wife and maligning my father.’” - Senator Cruz at a breakfast this morning.
Fair statement, but then why come to the convention at all?
To launch his 2020 campaign.

Is the GOP platform vote for Donald because he's not Hillary and he'll make America great again because he's president?
No.

Add putting gays back in the closet and I think that would about sum it up.
And poisoning your air and polluting your water

Donalds platform is not what I consider a typical GOP platform. He will be
1) Strong on jobs
2) Strong on promoting legal immigration
3) Strong on trade
4) Strong on the military
5) Strong on ISIS
How? Especially number 1? I believe the theme for one of the convention evenings was "Make America Work Again." Haven't seen much on the way of policy on jobs?
Unless Trump wins and massively expands Executive power, there's still a Congress to go through. What are the major policy points of the Trump jobs plan? On his website, he states that his tax plan will cure the jobs issue. Is this viable? Is simply changing the tax code enough?

Strong on the military and ISIS sounds like we should be prepared for another war. Though I wouldn't be shocked if that happened if either major candidate was elected.
Does strong on jobs mean manufacturing? I don't get the bring manufacturing back from both parties. Say those jobs do come back they won't employ as many people because of technological advances, they won't pay as much or offer as good of benefits to the common worker.
What's there plan on improving education? I believe everyone should have a K-12 education but during that education they should have access to the arts, physical education, math, social studies, science, english, foreign languages, a place that teaches how to fix cars, welding and things like that. After high school the individual has a choice if they want to attend a traditional college or trade school or join the work force. If they want additional schooling we need to find a way to do it were interest rates are low for all.

The Trump campaign should really improve there google presence. I had to scroll down to find the official campaign website. 😮

You got it. Governor Rick Snyder of Michigan has shown the way...especially on polluting water.

Trump has consistently spoken at the highest of high levels (i.e. generalization) with very little on policy & detail. A mob mentality of followers doesn't care or understand the ramifications of the detail of whatever it is that Trump has in mind. I'm not sure Trump knows what he has in mind, as in most of his speeches he seems to just wing it & speak whatever comes off the top of his head - accuracy, plausibility, practicality, or facts be damned.

I have never seen anything so disorganized and un enthusiastic in my life. What a rinky dink organization they are running. You couldn't throw a worse convention if you tried. 😛

Cruz babbled about values, but they were just platitudes. Another sore looser, behind k-suck. Act like a man and endorse the winner, Trump.
Sore loser nothing!!!!! This goes way beyond that. This is what Trump gets for campaigning like an adolescent child with the Lyin' Ted name calling, the insulting of Cruz's wife, and the insane accusation by Trump accusing Cruz's father of being involved in the JFK assassination. Did they expect candy and roses from Cruz???? Way more respect for him and Kasich and Jeb Bush for sticking by their values and not supporting an immature, nasty, mental midget like Trump. Not everyone will compromise their ideals and values and support someone who viciously and personally attacked them during the primaries like little wuss Marco and Christie Cream. No respect for them at all!

Mike Pence
(as a hoosier....i think he is an idiot)
typical hoosier humility so far

Your thoughts on why you think Pence is an idiot.
I find nothing wrong with "typical hoosier humility".
I have lived her my whole life and would rather be surround by people with those values
than the opposite .
Its interesting to see people take the time to write a commentary/play by play of a party/ candidate
the have disdain for.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Lighten up, Francis.

I'm hoping to see play-by-play commentary of the DNC by the Goober or alloak.

It's not about agreeing or disagreeing on a point by point basis or even at the higher level.
We all find passion & interests in different ways. I tip my hat to Hemp and thought he did a great job.

You can bet that every speech will be pandering to one group or another,
none of it geared towards Americans in general.

At the GOP convention this didn't happen because the GOP represents primarily a homogeneous group (to clarify - not Americans in general).
From all of Trump's primary speeches & statements we have learned that Trump & Company (the new GOP) represents all Americans unless you are ________ (fill in the blanks).

the 1st sentence are what I as a hoosier think of Pence. given his low approval rating in the state, i'm probably not alone.
the 2nd statement is a positive comment on his demeanor at that point in the speech.
i am sorry you did not enjoy my play by play. can't please everybody.

The racism and white privilege in this statement is stunning. "Americans in general"? Gosh, I wonder who you mean.

Stunning? Not so much.

Has that same feel & look as the Paul Ryan picture with interns. The GOP - a big tent party. 😛
Trump has done a great job of energizing the party.

Looks like the guy in the middle is stuck in a Trumpjob mouth-muscle cramp.

Somebody could sneeze and you guys would read some kind of "racism" into it. It's old,
intellectually lazy, and it's boring.

Another vivid imagination getting the best of someone. I wasn't even thinking about race, but you
guys never fail to take it there. Always got to be about race.

What you fail to grasp on a very basic level is that intent doesn't matter for something to be racist. In fact many times when someone says/does something racist, they'll defend it as not being racist by saying "that's not what I meant" or something to that effect. It doesn't matter if you were thinking about race or not, the label still fits.

The charge of racism no longer has any meaning in the U.S.That label died in it's effectiveness when the left-wingers called half of the American people racist because then disagreed with Obama's polities.

Says the man who can't be bothered to tell the difference between one dead black man's rap sheet (Alton Sterling's) and another dead black man's list of traffic violations (Philando Castile's) as he lies and trashes said dead black man's reputation on a band's website. Guess they all look and act alike to some.
