Macron is realizing that its dangerous game to pursue a Green agenda on the backs of the working poor. People were literally starving because of high taxes and low wages causing food to run out before the end of the month for many of the working poor. They finally have had enough and this revolt is far from over, even though Macron pulled back a hefty gas tax increase.

The smoking gun proof everyone. We’ve been wrong all along. Goober has proven beyond a reasonable doubt that liberal values are bad and wrong. I’m glad we can finally put this to bed.

If they would have just invested in coal powered cars instead, France would be so much better off.

Did you even read the article you linked to? That article does not talk about a Green agenda at all. It talks about the unrest being caused by tax cuts for the wealthy while the poor and middle class face increased taxes. Sound familiar? It does to me.

Seems to be a host of things. Overall economic policy, but also that with the efforts to address climate change...higher taxes on fuel, natural gas and electricity costs and tougher vehicle emission standards. It's one thing for political leaders to advocate and legislate these things in their bubbles, it is another for the people that are actually impacted by the costs and burdens of them.

The smug indifference of today's liberal, they know best! Dodging the result from pursuit of a liberal ideaology in a socialist state.

Cutting taxes on the rich and raising taxes on the poor is liberal ideaology? I must have missed that part in liberal school.

Whatever their differences, the French left and right agree that Trump is incompetent.

A. The French remain the best protesters. In a way, they kinda founded the concept. They will take to the streets when they seem fit and have, many times.
B. There seems to be contradictions on the view and sanctity of protests and "revolts," depending on how one can project their personal/American political bias on other parts of the globe. Gee, how shocking.

Only a fool would think that I, or anyone, can speak for an entire political ideology.

France seems to be resisting the anaesthetic that has made the rest of Western Civilization comfortably numb.

One of the main things they are resisting, and a primary cause initially, is higher taxes on fuel when fuel is already high. A gallon equivalent of diesel in France is $6.84 US dollars (1L $1.51 Euro)

And like any protest, there are opportunists that show up that just want to fight and make things ugly. There are all types of people protesting at this point, some with the cause they originally took to the streets for, others just want anarchy.

They pay 50% of their money for taxes, and for that they expect reasonable services.

Macron and his German counterpart Merkel seem to be in a race to see who gets out of office fastest.
France and Germany’s people have had enough of both.

Ah, the French.

Did you see the French Army rifle listed on eBay?
The description read "like new, never fired, dropped once".

LOL. Hahaha!! Really good one. Still, kind of unfair, they would have been slaughtered by Hitler, by 1940 the Germans were way ahead in forces and tech. England would have had unused rifles on Ebay too if there was no English Channel.

Assuming your joke was a reference to WW2 - not Dien Bien Phu, plenty well-used French rifles from that, not that they did any good.

Still, good one - my dad's gonna laugh his ass off when I bust that one on him.

WWII Veterans get it. They also have some great jokes that are not for posting… anywhere.
The French really don’t like to talk about Dien Bien Phu.

There are about to be quite a few government job openings in England, France and Germany.

With the exception of the eBay reference, that's about 40 years old. I'm sure there are French that blame President Obama for their rifles lack of effectiveness... Then again, didn't President Trump want to have a military parade because the French had one? Must have been those rifles that impressed him...

As to the original post, IMO global warming is real and is affecting our planet in an adverse way. All leaders and citizens have to take ownership of it whatever that may be. At the very least, don't waste water, don't waste food, and recycle (you'd be surprised at how many of our citizens can't grasp any of those tasks). If one wants to believe GW doesn't exist, so be it. Some people still think the world is flat...

"because the French had one"

Wrong.

Military parades are a national tradition. President Trump said he was impressed with the French military parade noted the military parade in DC after Desert Storm in June, 1991.

Yes, some of the easily deceived buy the global warming hoax. They are the same people who bought the nuclear power plants will kill us all farce in the 1960s, the new ice age crap in the 1970s and any other politically motivated load fed to them.

Al Gore told us the seas would rise 20 feet and by now NYC and the state of Florida would be under water.
How did that work out?

Over the last 100 years the earth's temperature has risen anywhere between .9 degree to 1.6 degrees depending on who's report you read and on what day.

The food is growing quite well in the fields.

The French people have told Macron to jam his carbon tax crap and he has capitulated.
The burned out cars lining the streets of Paris may have got his attention.
His lack of an approval rating pushed him out of hiding today for a speech that sounded like he was being held hostage.

Trump also said Mexico was going to pay for some wall. You sound like one of those French rifles on eBay... or like a WWII Italian tank.

Trump is envious of what he sees running Russia & North Korea. His mindset is much more aligned with those countries as opposed to our form of government with checks and balances.

Fair enough on whining about whos paying, but the real issue is whether you believe that a wall is needed. I would bet my last dollar you would say no, wall is needed, the caravan should stream on in, more Mexicans are leaving the country (net illegal immigration is zero), and that they have a right to be your nanny, hang your drywall and mow your lawn, because Americans wont do these jobs.

Must be a good one, got linked twice~!

Even if we should, or can, take measures to try and reduce or reverse what is happening, convincing a planet full of people to change their lifestyle for the common good is pretty damn challenging. Especially when it comes via a tax on something we all still need alot of and don't have any more money to pay for it than we did before and then all countries aren't treated equally in the treaties.

@realDonaldTrump
Despite the large Caravans that WERE forming and heading to our Country, people have not been able to get through our newly built Walls, makeshift Walls & Fences, or Border Patrol Officers & Military. They are now staying in Mexico or going back to their original countries.......
