That's right next weekend is the Kentucky Derby. We know in the south they always do events BIG. Grew p in a horse family. Starred in the film about Sea Biscuit. Mr. Z - trained by D. Wayne Lucas, a legend among trainers. Hs won 4 Derby’s, 6 Triple Crowns, 20 Breeders Cups. Over his career has won $200 million dollars. Who do I like? I will watch more workouts, see how the horses look (their form, their movement) and also look at their faces, those who keep their heads down and look sad, they don't want to be there. One favorite horse, who seemed animated and charming from videos I saw has something wrong with his back right leg, when he gallops, every so often he tries to catch himself and his strides are not in synchronicity. He also has allergies bothering him, he sneezed during one workout film, and he is mouth breathing, his mouth is open wide meaning he's not getting enough air through his nose. And yesterday his jockey used the crop on him during a practice run. Anyone who beats their horse should be put in the stall and have the crop used on him. What if we had a race where the horses were not jacked up on Lasix, (and reportedly only Mubtaahij will NOT be using it for the race) and were allowed to just be themselves, horses who like to run, gallop and express themselves? They like to compete and they like to win. Restore humanity to the game and let horsemanship and the BEST horse win. I remember what they did to Big Brown at Belmont, he should NOT have been racing, but all the bets were on him, and they put money ahead of the horses health. That is so wrong. They have corrupted and perverted the innocence of these horses, making races a sleazy scourge of greed. Shame on all of them who cannot win unless they beat their horse to make him run. Gets it done by running faster because his jockey is beating him to do it. There is nothing sporting about that. Why can't they just let the horses run and let the horses decide who wants to win that day, why does it always involve violence and submission? There is no honor in that.
