Questions & Answers About the Government By the People Act
Q: HOW WILL THIS SYSTEM ACTUALLY WORK?
It’s a voluntary system that will help grassroots candidates run on people power. Instead of raising most of their campaign cash from big donors in DC or New York, candidates will raise a large number of small contributions from people back home. Candidates qualify for the system by demonstrating local grassroots support—at least 1,000 in-state contributions adding up to at least $50,000. Then they agree to focus their campaigns on small donors and forgo contributions of more than $1,000. All of their contributions of $1 to $150 are matched on a six-to-one basis by a public fund (or an even higher match ratio under certain conditions). Contributors get a refundable tax credit of $25. Each candidate’s public funding is capped at a certain amount, and there would be strict enforcement of campaign finance laws, including disclosure of all donations.
Remarks: Public Funding to match contributions for political candidates? Need more info. on how that will be achieved, would it be a general fund that the local govt. takes out of people's wages or what?
Next, the Freedom From Influence Fund will match small contributions 6-to-1 or more. That means that a $150 contribution becomes worth at least $1,050—which is actually more than the $1,000 that participating candidates are allowed to take from a wealthy donor. So, for participating candidates small contributions from average constituents can actually be worth more than big checks from wealthy donors. And, even the $20 or $35 that a single mother or blue-collar worker can spare becomes significant.

Democracy For all Act
Pretty detailed stuff. They're not just retired hippies with nothing better to do than go to Washington and have a sit in. One has to wonder how it all got so complicated, and what our forefathers went thru. One thing I do know, the Colorado delegates was a sham. They had 600 people apply for 13 delegate positions, they had 10 seconds to make a speech and say who they would vote for if they were chosen as delegates, the regular people of the state did not get to vote for the delegates. All of this was LEGAL, it was in place since last year with election reform.
When we don't know what is going on in govt. that's how these things happen.
