I'm devoting Saturday and Sunday to football study!
Strat, what are your thoughts on Rosen? I know he hasn't always had the supporting cast, and I know he has had some injury issues, but I just haven't seen the extraordinary ability in an elite talent level college QB. He's good, I've seen him play very good. But I've seen probably 30 college QBs play as good any given year. Do you still think he is the 'Rosen One or Chosen Rosen, whatever they say?
Rosen is a good QB. He's best in uptempo and can run the ball too. Last season, he had a crappy OL, terrible running game, and receivers that dropped passes plus he was in an offense not suited to his style. It was hard to move the chains and unfortunately, he got a season ending shoulder injury. That said, he has the skills and the smarts to play in the NFL.
He's had a good off-season. Josh has grown up some (keeping his mouth shut), healed from his injuries, and put on some size. He's got some play makers around him but they have to execute. If it's all on him, Bruins are 7-5 at best. If he gets hurt again, Bruins will be lucky to get to .500.

Man, after all those incredible opening weekend matchups last year, was hoping that was the start of a trend. This year is a throwback to the powerhouses blowing out cupcakes tradition of the 70s and 80s.
+1 Bama vs FSU, Michigan vs The Gators are worth watching but other than that, BFD.
Friday night's game CU vs CSU should be fun. Big rivalry and both schools go at it. Grads from each schools hate each other. That's football!

I hate to wish summer away but the start of football season (especially college) is always fun.
Looking forward to Meeechigan playing a meaningful early game. I hate when I have to watch them play Bowlng Green, Eastern Michigan, et al.

Love seeing the Bruins go to Mephis, which that game, just saying that is not a auto W. What is best case Sept? 4-1? Not sure which one they lose, Stanford ofcourse because they always lose to Stanford right? Last year was some bullshit. The opener is plenty interesting. Not sure how the division shapes up yet but here is one thing we can agree on...Beat SC!

It isn't out of the realm of possibility that Michigan makes it into November 9-0. 4-0 open is possible and MSU and IU will be challenging but they should win both, and I'm not drinking PSU kool aid, think they step back this year ,that game is on the road, probably at night, still. So 7-0, 6-1 at that point losing to somebody along the way perhaps. They beat Rut and Min, then I really like Maryland this year, that game will be much different than last year and Blue travels to them, travels to Bucky and Madison is always a bitch to play at, then gets OSU at home to close. The last 3 games will make or break the season I think.

In the midst of NCAA investigation, Hugh Freeze resigns after it is discovered he placed a call from his school issued cell phone to an escort service and supposedly a "disturbing pattern" was seen on examination of the cell phone records although that specific number was only called once. Those chics must not have suited him.
Just another flawed man hiding behind religion.
Lot of talent still on hand in Oxford, self imposed bowl ban this year pending NCAA sanctions. But they are a train wreck. Season starts nice and easy, then at Bama, then at Auburn, then Vandy, then LSU, then Hogs ,then at UK...what are they 5-4 best case through 9 games? 4-5 more likely.

I don't know if Yahoo will have the games for the 26th, but college football games officially start in 3 weeks!! 4 weeks until the normal week 1 schedule.
Back for the 9th year, our yahoo college football pick'em league. The game selection will be 'yahoo default' and 'top 25'. Just as year's past everyone's lowest single week will be dropped. So if you get a zero for missing a week, or just really get crushed one week, no big deal as long it just happens once.

Looking back at overrated preseason top 10 teams:
The most overrated showing preseason rank and final regular season record (not including bowl win/loss).
1998 Arizona St #8 - 5-6
1999 Arizona #4 - 6-6
2000 Alabama #3 - 3-8
2001 Florida State #7 - 7-4
2002 Florida State #3 - 9-4 (also Tenn #5 - 8-4, Fl #6 - 8-4)
2003 Auburn #6 - 7-5
2004 Ohio St #9 - 7-4
2005 Tennessee #3 - 5-6 (also Michigan #4 - 7-4, Oklahoma #7 7-4)
2006 Notre Dame #2 - 10-2
* they're the most logical of all 06 teams in my mind as they faced 2 teams in the top 15 and lost both badly, when you factor in the Sugar Bowl vs #4 LSU it shows the unjustified #2 ranking in August.
2007 Michigan #5 - 8-4 (also #9 Louisville 6-6)
2008 Auburn #10 - 5-7 (lots of others in 2008: Georgia #1 9-3 3rd overall SEC, Missouri #6 9-4 5th overall Big 12, LSU#7 7-5 losing record in SEC, West Virginia #8 8-4 3rd Big East, Clemson #9 7-5 .500 ACC record)
2009 Ole Miss #8 - 8-4 (lost first game in week 3 and was handled by #20 Bama 22-3 two weeks later) (Oklahoma was preseason #3 and finished 7-5, but they also had starting QB lost for season in week 1)
2010 Texas #4 - 5-7(also Florida #3 7-5 and Iowa #10 7-5)
2011 Oklahoma #1 - 9-3 (lost to unranked T Tech, barely ranked Baylor and #3 OSU), also: Florida State #5 - 8-4 (lost 3 games in a row to OU, Clem, Wake and later to Virginia *starting QB injured during 3 game losing streak), Texas A&M #9 - 6-6 (what a mess they were).
2012 #1 USC 7-6 lost Sun Bowl to GT. #8 Michigan 8-5 lost Outback bowl to SC. #10 Arkansas 4-8
2013 #10 Florida 4-8. #5 Georgia garnered 1 first place vote finished 8-5 with an Outback bowl loss. #7 Texas A&M 8-4 before beating Duke in the Chick-fill-A bowl.
2014 #4 Oklahoma 8-4 before 6-40 bowl loss. #6 Auburn 8-4 before Outback bowl loss. #9 SC pulled over .500 with a Independence bowl win.
2015 #2 TCU 10-2 prior to Alamo Bowl win, not a bowl becoming to a preseason #2. #6 Auburn 6-6, pulled over .500 by beating Memphis in Birmingham bowl. #7 Oregon with loss to TCU in Alamo bowl. #8 USC 8-6 with a loss to Wisconsin in Holiday Bowl. #9 Georgia was 5-3 in October.
2016 #9 Notre Dame 4-8 disaster. #7 Stanford was 4-3 at one point, but did finish 10-3. #10 Tennessee 8-4 reg ssn (4-4 SEC). #6 LSU was 2-2 after Sept and 7-4 reg ssn

Got into my college pick 'rm pool the other day. Can't believe it's almost that time.
If anyone wants to get in, I can do it. Just a $30 buy in. There's a weekly winner and an end of year one as well.
First weekend is going to be interesting!

We have 7 friendly faces in our yahoo ABB pick'em league, some other frequent players yet to sign up.

It's getting close. I feel a a lot better about my Dawg's this year..

I'm in for the win!!!! GO DUCKS!!! WTD!!!

This is the last Friday night without college football until the second week of December!
College football every Saturday tomorrow - January!!

I just noticed what I suspect is an oddity that is probably old news for UGA fans. No defensive player last year was All SEC? Looking at that roster there is a TON of experience in most of that two-deep. Would figure for some improvement out of the D, secondary remaining slight concern I suppose?
Looking to see how Eason improves, which in year two is quite likely so long as the OL and WR units also improve to support his growth.
I like the opener vs App St. App St is really good so should be good test. They nearly beat the Vols as we know, but Miami crushed them with an abundance of big plays last year.

I may even jump back in this year, haven't yet decided.
"Is that a real poncho or is that a Sears poncho?"

Neb, what's the over/under Vegas line on Husker wins this year?
I can see anywhere from 6-6 to 8-4. Depending how the season unfolds, they may not win a game the last month. 😮

Gameday today!! You have week to get in our pool if you like. leafsfan just got back on board! Not sure about Lee's group.

I didn't go to Vegas this year. If the odds are anything like what I see the two places I look online Nebraska Ov7 -105, Un7 -125 - or Ov7 +105, Un7 -125.
Nebraska should be pretty interesting with Tanner Lee at QB. He was pretty good at Tulane, but limited by the surrounding personnel, atleast that is what we think. Then I really like Diaco at DC, a smooth switch to 3-4 will be key. Losing the top 2 LBs from last year and now they need to add an extra starter to that group. Sucks that Chris Jones got hurt.
Schedule is fairly tough considering they pull Ohio St and at Penn St from the East and travel to Eugene. Given the recent history vs Urban Meyer at Ohio St that game wouldn't appear winnable. Wisconsin and NW will be tough, as will Iowa, those aren't unwinnable though. Then there is the unexpected hiccup along the way....I think they can beat Penn St but I am not that high on the Nits. I think 8 or more is definitely attainable if they just play to potential and get a strong start.

Not sure I remember a school President talking pregame trash before!!
At FSU's Alumni Association's Kickoff luncheon Friday, the 73-year old Thrasher fired up the Seminoles' faithful.
"I shouldn't talk too much trash, but I think we're gonna beat Alabama pretty bad next week," Thrasher said. "I really do."

"Is that a real poncho or is that a Sears poncho?"

Georgia did go out and get some depth at DB position although young and unproven. From what I'm hearing out of Athens their is improvement along the O-line (it couldn't get any worse than last year). WR receiver position looks much better than last year some good depth there. On paper they should have a clear shot to Atlanta. But we are talking about Georgia football. Anything can happen. 10 starters return from a good defense so that should be a strong point..

Speaking of O-lines if FSU hasn't fixed it problems it'going to be along night against Bama.

Tomorrow!!!
We have a "great bunch" in the pick'em. Still time for anyone else to sign up, first game for that is Friday.
How about all the Florida suspensions?!? RB Scarlet suspended today in that debit card thing. WR Calloway already out as part of what, 10 guys suspended for this game. Not all were key players, but a couple are. Figures to be a low scoring game, would be surprised if either team topped 20 pts.
S Caro vs NC St in Charlotte should be a pretty good game. NC St getting some hype this year, not sure how they possibly finish higher than 4th in that division though. Muschamp finally has an Offense, the D - well not so much.
Troy at Boise...watch out, just saying!
Wonder if a IAA team is going to beat an IA this week. Probably. YSU at Pitt, James Madison at ECU, E Was at T TEch, UNI at ISU? Wazzou has lost to a IAA two years in a row, they face Mont St.
