Stupid Buffs. Lose to Hawaii. CU was my sleeper pic to make some noise in the Pac12. That's football.

Bruins win big over UVA tomorrow. GO BRUINS!

I grabbed a TCU under 10.5 wins out here...after last night I like it. Their O will play better no doubt, Minny's D is legit good (Minny O is another story). But looking at the Frogs schedule at Oklahoma St and at Oklahoma are not gimmies and the Baylor home game to end the season is not either. K ST and WVU might be down a notch this year, but I think T Tech will be stronger and TCU plays at them in week 4. SMU can't play D still, but Chad Morris has that offense a pulse again (see 1st half vs Baylor). Here is to hoping TCU drops 2 somewhere!

On a more pessimistic note, I feel you Strat....I like Guy McIntyre's work previously at San Jose and got in an over 5 win bet on his Buffs this year (they play 13 this year), unfortunately winning last night was a big part of that plan. Going to be tough now. WTF was with those silver helmets...game started at 11 mountain time, not sure if that had something to do with it, but those UH kids played really hard, that DL I was surprised that CU had so much trouble protecting. Buffs can still go 3-1 to rebound, but finding 3 more wins on the schedule is really tough.

PAC 12 South is so rough for Utah. They are probably a middle of the pack team you think? Got to figure games vs the likes of Oregon, Az St, USC and UCLA are still going to be tough for them to crack the upper half of the division this year even if Arizona slips back down the ladder.

I think Cal (yes Kal I know) is a team to watch in the PAC 12 this year. They could be 4-1 (or maybe even 5-0? if Texas offense still sucks again this year) when they travel to SLC to play the Utes in week 6! I like Cal this year to go bowling for sure.

Enjoying the Bama game immensely. Precision, power, pursuit, punishment and a rolling Tide! The poor Badgers are just too slow.

Being an SEC guy - and about as far away diametrically as possible, I didn't see all of the BYU-Nebraska game. Looks like that one must've ben a doozy!

Watched Georgia - LaMonroe until the rain postponed it. Network rolled over to the Ole Miss - UTM game. Like watching someone pistol whip a puppy! I napped and practiced geetar for a bit.

Auburn - Louisville: almost what I expected. I'd have to say Auburn looked pretty good but Louisville hung tight at the end.

Of course my game was Alabama - Wisconsin. Despite inconsistencies in QB and O-line, I thought Bama played very well. Some tweaking to be done for sure. Saban played pretty much the entire squad - subbing heavily (including QB) in the 4th quarter before Wisconsin was salted away. He's either trying to give everybody some experience or keeping a few cards hidden for down the road. Great watching the game with my Golden Isles Bama Booster buds at the local Buffalo Wild Wings! Grin

I thought the QB play was pretty solid. Heading into week two, the biggest question mark in my mind is once again at placekicker.

Missing the first two field goal attempts of the season - not a good beginning. We even had one pretty crappy punt from JK Scott, who is about the best in the business.

QB - Coker just looked unsteady early. He has a rifle of an arm but was off the mark - either under/over throwing or throwing behind the receiver several times. I have no doubt that he'll season up over time. Apparently the starting job is his. When Bateman came in, he seemed to have better control and understanding of the offense. I don't think he has the arm or the overall talent of Coker but he seems to steer the ship better. Like most of Alabama's recent offenses, they seem to like the big play - the long bomb. As exciting as that is to watch, I've always thought that short to medium length passes were more of a sure thing. That's probably why Saban and Kiffin are paid big bucks ... while I type on my laptop. 😉

This is actually kinda sad a scary. Wisconsin safety, Michael Caputo got hit so hard he went to Alabama's huddle after the play. Props to the Wisconsin staff for keeping him out of the game afterward. I hope he's doing alright!

Just saw that Texas promoted its WR coach to call the plays on offense and only after game 1. Makes you wonder what the heck the OC etc. were all doing during spring and fall camps. My bet is the Horns don't win 5 games this season.

That's a real head scratcher. I agree with you (except for only winning five games). Talk about overreacting! I like Charlie Strong but this really puzzles me. And while not a Texas fan, I think they screwed Mack Brown.

That comes off as a panic move. Charlie is in over his head.

As bad as the offense is the defense looks just as bad. They look like they don't even care.

So why are so many SEC teams ranked?

The new OC/play caller for Texas is Jay Norvell who was OU's OC last year and year's prior. Funny thing that OU got rid of him when their defense and Stoop's brother was the biggest problem with that team last year I think.

Anyway, Texas has lots of problems. Charlie comes across kind of like the drill sergeant type. One might suspect that kids at Louisville might not like that hard edged approach, but it worked. It hasn't worked in Texas. Some kids always transfer out and quit when a coaching change happens and there needs to be a "buy-in" from the remaining players. This has seemed to be a big problem for Charlie. He ran some kids off which effected quality depth and a few potential starters. Right now they are starting 2 Freshman OL, why? Why the hell does Texas have to start kids fresh out of high school on their OL? They start a former walk-on in the defensive backfield. Why is Texas starting a walk-on when they should have their pick of 5 star kids?

Their QB is beyond atrocious, if you watched Tyrone Swoops play for the first time last week then you haven't missed anything. He sucked all last year just as bad, although somehow he played really well vs OU, but obviously an aberration. They have this fFr Heard kid...the fact he couldn't beat out Swoops isn't indicative of Swoops improving, but Heard doesn't appear to be any better. They have a hyped tr Fr kid who they might as well throw into the fire now.

The program slipped tremendously under the last few Mack Brown years. Compounding that problem was Art Briles and Gary Patterson and Texas A&M started ascending and becoming the new "it" schools in Texas. Mack Brown had some horrible teams at the end and there is no way they could've kept him.

If Charlie is given time it could work, but it is such a high profile and pressure packed job that the fan base won't be able to tolerate it getting worse before it gets better.

I don't know what is going to happen there. They should beat Rice, but it could be close. I fully expect Cal to beat them in 2 weeks.

So why are so many SEC teams ranked?

Never been one to want to affirm rankings at this point in the year, it is so so so early and we just don't know enough, but why are so many ranked? Because there are that many that appear to be that good.

Here is a better question, if you fill out your own rankings what SEC teams would you not rank and which teams would you replace them with?

The entire SEC West is super deep and anyone of those teams would appear good enough to win the league and compete for a national title/playoff spot.

DUCKS BABY!!!!

Looking forward to tomorrow night at MSU. Ducks D will come around slowly but are not up against an offence like EWU. Vernon Adams has had another week of practice, players are rolling back from injuries.

Its going to be close but I am all for the team in green, yellow, black, pink and white.

Would be nice if both Oregon teams had a long flight home from the mitten. Also wouldn't be surprised if they both won either.

Some respect to the people in the great state of Michigan:

Michigan Wolverines fans give Utah waitress $3,000 tip

When Michigan kicked off the college football season at Utah last week, it was a group of Wolverines fans who made the biggest play of the night.

After the Wolverines' 24-17 loss to the Utes, some Michigan fans gathered at the Bourbon House in Salt Lake City, where they ran up a $505 tab. When server

Breanne Snow closed out the bill, she got the surprise of her life.

There was a $3,000 tip.

"I went and cried in the corner for a couple minutes," Snow told the Salt Lake Tribune, adding that she and her boyfriend each work two jobs. "We're working so hard and never see the payout from it. He could have picked anyone else in there, and for him to pick me, it meant a lot because we were working so hard."

Ducks could maybe get the W vs MSU...My confidence is slowing gaining on MSU in that one.

I'd be shocked if Oregon St were to win. The point spread is rather ridiculous, awfully high price on Harbaugh's first home game over 2 TDs, but this Ore St team is going to go through alot of growing pains this season I anticipate.

Go Green...
