Colton Haab, a Junior ROTC student and survivor of the school shooting in Parkland, Fla., last week, said he going to participate in the CNN town hall Wednesday night, but decided not to when he said the network provided him with a list of “scripted questions.”
"I expected to be able to ask my questions and give my opinions on my questions," Haab told a local ABC affiliate, WPLG-TV. "CNN had originally asked me to write a speech and questions, and it ended up being all scripted."
Haab said he was asked to prepare a speech and some questions. He was planning to ask about school safety and the possibility of using veterans as armed security guards in schools but was rejected by CNN. After being told he had to ask a scripted question, Haab decided not to attend the town hall.
"I don't think that it's going get anything accomplished. It's not gonna ask the true questions that all the parents and teachers and students have,” Haab said.
CNN tweeted a response statement Thursday morning saying there was no truth in Haab’s claims.
“There is absolutely no truth to this,” CNN Communications tweeted. “CNN did not provide or script questions for anyone in last night’s town hall, nor have we ever.”
The CNN communications statement said Haab’s father withdrew his name from participating in the town hall before it began. The team also invited Haab to come on CNN some time on Thursday to discuss his views on school safety.

Their ratings are circling the drain, their CEO barely survived a board meeting expressly called to review his continued employment and their advertising revenue is declining fast. That fact is one of the reasons Jeff Zucker plans to lay off as many as 50 people as soon as this week and one of their primary on-air hosts, Don Lemon, is about to be fired.
CNN’s board of directors will meet soon to discuss the AT&T/Time Warner deal which will require that CNN be sold or spun-off as AT&T has said they will not close the deal with CNN as any part of their organization.
We need more sharp.kids like this, calling the media, politicians, lobbyists on their B.S. They have the spotlight and are using it well. Settig a great example for other young people, refreshing after this last generation of apathy.

Many of you may know of guitarist Ben Sparaco (Crazy Fingers, Freight Train, Wanee Fest, etc) who is an alum of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and has played several fundraisers for the victims, who are all people/families he knows, since the shooting. "For the sake of honesty and full disclosure to which we are committed, we have to tell you there is no evidence as of right now that CNN tried to give Colton Haab a scripted question, and we wanted you to know that," Carlson said on his show Tuesday.
Hannity made a similar concession on his show, via Mediaite. "Our job is always to strive for the truth and we want to correct the record," he said on his show Tuesday.

Haab's dad was just reacting on behalf of his son, as any parent would, he was probably just super proud of his kid - the producers simply were saying the speech was too long for such a large panel.
