Health officials report first influenza related death

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – State health officials announced the first influenza related death for the season on Monday.

According to a release, the victim was over 65 years old and was not vaccinated. No other details were released.

Health officials say they expect more deaths from the flu before the season is over. They say the best way to prevent getting the flu is to get vaccinated, especially for children under two, pregnant woman and adults over the age of 65.

Anyone who experiences the symptoms listed below should seek medical attention:
•Fever of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or greater
•Headache
•Fatigue
•Cough
•Muscle aches
•Sore throat

In 1918 millions died in the flu pandemic; a strain in 2015 that bad with modern air travel would be a world disaster.

Yeah lets make sure any nurses don't ride bikes or go to bridal shops or well do anything. By the way, can we get an update on how many people died of ebola in America. Thankfully we shut down all those incoming flights.

Just takes on person coming in who's an idiot to create havoc. We've been lucky so far re: Ebola. And re flu I'm not saying shut down world travel; but pandemics have happened and it is a lethal disease for many people. And remember; the one nurse who was infected was the one who went to the bridal shop. I sure wouldn't have wanted to try on a gown right after her. Just because nothing bad has yet to happen doesn't mean caution isn't necessary.
