Circus starts tomorrow

Democrats begin their public impeachment circus and show trial, with pre-selected stoolies and offer up a bunch of cherry-picked witnesses.

Offered up as an alternative to the comedy relief the debates have been providing.

Yep, political entertainment brought to you by politicians primarily grandstanding for the TV cameras - they’ll look like the same well meaning but hapless putzes the candidates do ‘debating’

Maybe. Then again the circus has been going on since the president's inauguration. Actually calling the current president's tenure a "circus" is being too kind.

A historic moment, and a shining example of democracy in action. Whatever happens, this is a great thing - sets us apart from all other governments - the Founding Fathers built in an immune system into our body politic.

X2 - May not agree w/the necessity of invoking these impeachment proceedings - but wouldn’t trade or compromise the Constitution for anything ever - democracy is the greatest form of government - vox populi - as Gerald Ford said in quoting the Constitution after he became president, “Here, the people rule”

I would agree in principle, but imho, this is a witch hunt set in motion by a bunch of sore losers who've been reduced to grasping at straws. A last chance "Hail Mary" before the Election and the stakes are high because if this is proven to be the Travesty I believe it is, President Trump will stroll back to the White House in his bedroom slippers.

Sometimes, we just have to be awed by the brilliance of the constitution. The Founding Fathers were revolutionaries w/strong memories of tyranny. A significant number were lawyers. All believed that a free press was essential to democracy. Their goal was preserving democracy & never falling prey to a self-dealing tyrant that had caused them to sever themselves from Great Britain. Hence, the constitution w/checks & balances. They built in that political immune system based on the idea that Americans were united against tyrants. If Congress has evidence of self-dealing, power-grabbing, or acting against democratic principles, they're required to act. They are proceeding according to constitutional authority. They're conducting government business. They are not bringing the circus to town.
In the past 50 years, Congress had evidence that Nixon committed & covered up a crime. He resigned to avoid impeachment. They had evidence that Clinton lied under oath. He was rightfully impeached, but he wasn't voted out of office. Congress has evidence that Trump withheld lawfully appropriated funds from the Ukraine until his political rival was investigated by its government. An impeachment investigation is legally underway.
Congress is acting in accordance w/the constitution and the belief that the US is an independent democracy rather than a dictatorship just as those revolutionary Founding Fathers planned. No one is required to watch or read about it; Congress is just going about its business.

"In fact, the Founders had a broader conception of bribery than what’s in the criminal code. Their understanding was derived from English law, under which bribery was understood as an officeholder’s abuse of the power of an office to obtain a private benefit rather than for the public interest. This definition not only encompasses Trump’s conduct—it practically defines it." --Lawfareblog.com
Bribery is an imPEACHable offense. Read the Constitution.

JFC. Enough already. There's absolutely nothing Trump could do that would have you support a removal from office. Just come out and say it.

. . .but imho, this is a witch hunt set in motion by a bunch of sore losers who've been reduced to grasping at straws.
Ok, so if it is a "witch hunt by sore losers" then there is nothing for the president to worry about. Maybe it is a witch hunt maybe it isn't. Maybe Trump is abusing powers of office, maybe he isn't. The questions have become strong enough to activate our political immune system.
The beauty of it is that we enjoy the unique privilege of having our concerns addressed legally. Our system of checks and balances at work, time-proven to stop natural political failings like witch hunts and dictatorships.

Congress has evidence that Trump withheld lawfully appropriated funds from the Ukraine until his political rival was investigated by its government.
I guess they are just not going to share that evidence with anybody. They haven't yet anyway.
Ok, so if it is a "witch hunt by sore losers" then there is nothing for the president to worry about.
BINGO! Except however when they fail to remove him from office, what is next? We had the Russian Collusion (FAIL) , Then we had quid pro quo (FAIL), now we have Extortion and it will fail as well.
Congressional approval of the Mexico & Canadian trade deal would be good for everyone. I guessing that is not on the left's agenda. There is not a single argument not to pass it. And if they vote, it will pass. We can't let that happen. It would look like trump was Making America Great Again.
So let this thing happen. Let them embarrass themselves, making certain that Trump is re-elected. When that happens everyone will be supportive right? Nope then the Americans who re-elect will be deemed morons. And we will complain about the electoral college....again.

And we will complain about the electoral college....again.

We are a Democratic Republic and that guy used to be a democrat. I think that is one reason this is so frustrating for you folks. I like you brother why not tell us what is next? If he wins by a landslide in 2020 shouldn't he get a break?

You don’t believe this at all.
I do, but thanks for attempting to show me the light.

Honestly I don't have a dog in this race and never did. "With malice toward none", my brother. Just happy to see America functioning as it should. I have shown some open support for Trump here, on matters that his supporters have been dead silent on. And bashed Obama on some things nobody else gave a crap about. Got my own perspective, independent.
This presidency has been very healthy for the country, it has functioned kind of like an allergy screening, got a bunch of stuff out to where we can see it and deal with it.

He’s an absolutely horrible human being. I’ll vote for whoever runs against him and if he wins again I’ll know that I didn’t support an absolutely horrible human being.
You folks can be smug about accepting this guy as your king all you want. The Democratic Republic bit is funny, though.

Unless you have ringmaster Schiff produce a blue dress there really isn't going to be any compelling evidence to convince me there was an actual plan that was put into motion.

Disagree. This is no ''witch hunt'' (Lance Armstrong said that too). The president violated his authority using public policy for his own political gain. (If he was so concerned about Hunter Biden, why wasn't this brought up earlier at the beginning of his administration?) There is clear cause for an impeachment proceeding.
Personally, I'd rather see him voted out of office. That being said, if it turns out this is what does President Trump in, so be it. To hell with him.

Mr. Rabbit, you are making stuff up! You know that was Fake Twitter. I can tell because there were only 144K retweets; DJT always has at least 999,999,999 retweets. Even in 2012.

What do you think was going on today if not a PUBLIC evidentiary hearing?

Its a complete witch hunt, and looks to turn into another Dem impeachment fraud & failure unless they do a lot better than they did today.
At this point its quid pro nil. Nowhere in the call did Trump threaten to hold aid back unless Ukrainian corruption and the Biden's were investigated. There were no conditions placed on the aid. And they have yet to produce concrete evidence that Trump arranged to hold the aid back until the Biden's were being investigated.
The fact that Trump expressed concern about giving US taxpayer money to a country with a known history of corruption and misuse of US aid is well within his purview. Add in the fact that they got the money, well within the timing mandated by Congress, and that the Ukrainians knew nothing about it being withheld, and the Dems are so far a playing a loosing hand. The Dems performance today with Schiff lying about not knowing who the whistle-blower is, Quigley claiming "hearsay can be much better evidence than direct", and witnesses not having a shred of evidence to prove the quid pro all just make this perfect campaign fodder for Trump's reelection. I'm sure he's toasting this farce tonight.
And lets not forget that the Trump administration has provided useful military aid that the previous President refused to consider. So if someone was really concerned about the brave Ukrainians ability to fight off Russian aggression and protect their borders, then they should be cheering that Trump has finally done something meaningful to help them. Ironically those same people criticizing today don't want to consider protecting our own borders - but that's another thread.
The Dems really should stop this immediately, start doing positive things with their control of the House, and try to build a set of reasons for voters to support them and vote Trump out next year. Their current all-negative trajectory isn't going to help them one bit.

. . .perfect campaign fodder for Trump's reelection.
Why then you must be overjoyed about the impeachment proceedings. You Trumpets keep blowing the same old tired riff ad nauseum how the impeachment is fatally injuring Democrats, all while saying the Democrats should cease the proceedings, because if they did not take the impeachment route they would stand a better chance in 2020 - but you want them to fail in 2020.
Anyone else see a disconnect there?

liberals are laughing at how stupid y’all look by choosing a carnival barker as your leader.
LOL. Perhaps the Dems should have done a better job in choosing their Candidate....I mean after all, she did lose to a "Carnival Barker" in a mode that is Constitutionally correct.
I mean if the impeachment proceedings fall under the Constitution , so does the way HC lost, right?
So what's the real excuse for losing to a "Carnival Barker"?
Too hilarious
